I have not heard much about The possibility of part of one of the Canary Islands falling into the sea since sometime last year; probably a few threads on ATS about the possibility.

This video was Published on Jan 27, 2015 so if already posted please delete. The video covers what is projected to happen when the face of the island slides into the Atlantic. The tsunami will be traveling at a speed that will have it impact the eastern United States in just about 8 hours. The waters could move inland for 10s of miles and unfortunately not give enough time to evacuate Florida and many coastal cities.

@ 3:58 into the video research explains why these types of Tsunami are so big and devastating.

Just more doom porn that failed,. if you had listened to all of it you would have heard

This volcano on the Canary Island is going to cut loose in a week or so - it won't be 2 or 3 weeks or a month, it will be 7 - 10 days.

However it was posted on the 27/1/2015 which was 3 1/2 weeks ago.... so FAIL!

Actually I agree they missed the date in the first half of the video. Those darn pesky volcanic island land slides seem to have their own schedule; not ours.

I really have no doubt that some agency like FEMA has some grand inadequate plan for just such a scenario though.

P.S. I even gave you a star for being such a great listener

This video was posted over a year ago, I remember it.

I have come to distrust Anything John Moore says! Nothing against you OP. I also feel it will happen.

Oh no doubt it'll happen, but I don't think anyone can predict exactly when.

However, when it does, it will be a seriously bad day for anyone on the East Coast.

That is how I looked at it... Just one more thing to add to a rather persistent pile of "watch out (s)".. The 2004 tsunami that hit Asia killed (by some estimates) over 118,000 to 250,000 and really could not be compared to a Canary Island event If the tsunami is anywhere close to the estimated event wave size. Hard to imagine something happening in the water off the coast of Africa having such an effect on stuff a continent away... but Tsunamis have happened before to the west coast and Hawaii; usually caused by earth quakes so it is just a waiting game on this one. Hopefully it won't happen....

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Sometimes you have to wonder if science is more blessing or curse.

Think of all those things that can kill us that we were previously blissfully ignorant of - Supervolcanoes, mega-tsunamis, all the massive celestial phenomena like asteroid and comet strikes, superbugs and viruses, etc.

It's a wonder any of us can sleep at night.

It is intriging the sheer magnitude of disaster that can be generated by this one volcanic landslide though.
