These arent necessarily the best ideas for theme songs, but if there was to be a compilation of music related to what ATS covers, these would be some contenders I think.

Soul Coughing - Unmarked Helicopters
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime (whole album)
Corporate Avenger - FBI File
Dead Prez - Police State
A Perfect Circle - Lets Have a War

The Doors: People are Strange

Second Thought

Killing Joke: Requiem

Man watching video
The bomb keeps on ticking.
He doesnt know why
He's just cattle for slaughter.
The Requiem
The Requiem
The Requieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeem
When the meaningful words
When they cease to function
When there's nothing to say
When will they start plotting against you
The requiem
The requiem
The requieeeeeeeeeeeeeem
Only a hint of religion
Uncensored truths for the novelty.
the sound of breaking glas
this is a reflection

Hrm.

Given the general mood and swing of the board,
I'm shocked no one's suggested Front Line Assembly's "Victim of a Criminal"
(released in 1994, BTW)

I ain't down to be a killer's accomplice
Accessory to murder so I fight the resistance
System of oppression leaving people with no hope
Conspiracy to kill us like the stuff that was all rope
At the same time sinner's equility
For all nationalities in the midst of brutality - yo
Here's the reality while in the United States
Four hundred years of hate and the world's highest murder rate

10 years later and people are saying the same things.

A lot of the lyrics on the Pixies album Trompe Le Monde are about or pertaining to other life forms and worlds and conspiracy and what not. And it's fecking good music, so that's the one.

hehe, that's exactly what I was about to put in response to that. Can you believe that's considered their worst album amongst many? I'd say it was arguably their best.

Oh...don't forget The Happening off Bossanova either.

they got a ranch they call
number fifty-one
they got a ranch they call
number fifty-one
can't see it all
'less your flying by
just sitting there square
baking in the sun
beneath the sky

they're gonna put it down
right on the strip
they're gonna put it down
on the Vegas strip
they're gonna put it down
and step outside
into the lights
right outta that ship
saying Hi!

i was driving doing nothing on the shores of Great Salt Lake
when they put it on the air i put it in the hammer lane
i soon forgot myeslf and i forgot about the brake
i forgot all laws and i forgot about the rain
they were talking on the 9 and all across the amy band
across the road they were turning around and headed south with me
it got so crowded on the road i started driving in the sand
my head was feeling scared but my heart was feeling free
the desert turned to mud it seems that everybody heard
everybody was remembering to forget they had the chills
then i heard the voices on a broadcast from up on the bird
they were getting interviewed by some Goodman whose name was Bill
i'm almost there to Vegas where they're puttin' on a show
they've come so far i've lived this long at least i must just go and say
hello

Actually, while your all straining your brains over this one take a quick smile break. Our little CPR started composing ATS knock off songs in his blog last month. Check them out, I'm sure you'll get a kick out of them, they are quite clever.

Neil Young - Keep on Rocking in the Free World

Harvy Danger - Paranoid

Nat King Cole - What a Wonderful World

Rob Dougan - There's Only Me

Hunters and Collectors - Holy Grail

M&R Project - Believe in God

OK OK, I'm playing here, but these are great songs - many of which are playing as I go to ATS.

For Politics @ Above Top Secret: "(I'm Interested In) Apathy" - TISM

Seriously check this one out.... Revolution Calling by Queensryche...

For a price I'd do anything
Except pull the trigger
For that I need a pretty good cause
Then I heard of Dr. X
The man with the cure
Just watch the television
You'll see there's something going on
Got no love for politicians
Or that crazy scene in D.C.
It's just a power mad town
But the time is ripe for changes
There's a growing feeling
That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due
I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?

How long should we allow this thread to go on (collecting) till we actually begin the voting process.

So far there are about 60 suggestions.

Many I've never heard of...

I would say anything from System of a Down. Here are the Prison Song lyrics (edited for repeated lines):

Theyre trying to build a prison
Theyre trying to build a prison
Following the rights movement
You clamped on with your iron fists
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids
Following the rights movement
You clamped on with your iron fists
Drugs became conveniently
Available for all the kids
I buy my crack, I smack my bitch
Right here in hollywood
(nearly 2 million americans are
Incarcerated in the prison system
Prison system of the us)
Theyre trying to build a prison

(for you and me to live in)
Another prison system

(for you and me to live in)
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You dont even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
Against the new non-rich
Minor drug offenders fill your prisons
You dont even flinch
All our taxes paying for your wars
Against the new non-rich
I buy my crack, I smack my bitch
Right here in hollywood
The percentage of americans in the prison system
Prison system, has doubled since 1985
Theyre trying to build a prison

(for you and me to live in)
Another prison system

For you and i, for you and i, for you and i.
Theyre trying to build a prison

For you and me
Oh baby, you and me.
All research and successful drug policy show
That treatment should be increased
And law enforcement decreased
While abolishing mandatory minimun sentences
All research and successful drug policy show
That treatment should be increased
And law enforcement decreased
While abolishing mandatory minimun sentences
Utilising drugs to pay for secret wars around the world
Drugs are now your global policy now you police the globe
I buy my crack, I smack my bitch
Right here in hollywood
Drug money is used to rig elections
And train brutal corporate sponsored dictators
Around the world

Theyre trying to build a prison
(for you and me to live in)
Another prison system

(for you and me to live in)
For you and i, for you and i, for you and i

Theyre trying to build a prison

For you and me
Oh baby, you and me
