I haven't seen the movie and probably won't. My daughter, in her early twenties, and who read the three books as I did, described to me how it was, and she found it distateful. She is not even mired in sexual taboos- she was raised in France.
The more subtle psychological points were not made evident and it came out more as bad porn.

But taking three year old girls to see it? Seriously?

The movie or books have some value, in my mind, of making grown women more consciously aware of their drives and motivations that might otherwise have been influencing them in subconscious, uncontrolled ways. (like being attracted to abusive men might have been motivated by a desire to get close to self assured, assertive persons, and soaking up some of that in the exchange). Becoming aware of that could lead to better discernment in future.

But at three years old, their sexuality is not yet formed, it is in fact, being developed. Seeing our mistakes at an adult age can help us fix them, but being fed these patterns when young, when the ego and sexual behavior is forming, just risks programming them to make those mistakes later!

Prove it *wasnt* a romantic comedy! I bet Id get a few good laughs out of it if the movie dialogue is anything like the books dialogue that I've read in reviews.

What I've seen looks goofy and corny as hell. You might be right...it might go down in the annals of rom-com eventually.

Some hysterical tweets to E.L. James during a Twitter Q&A about her writing:

"What do you dislike more, Independent strong woman [ sic] or the English language,"

"If I stalk a girl and GPS her car, does that mean it's true love?"

Another Twitter uses posted a photo with the James line, "His eyebrows widen in surprise" with the question, "are you aware that eyebrows can't actually do this."

"after the success of 'Grey,' have you considered re-telling the story from the perspective of someone who can write."

"how do you feel knowing that you have essentially invalidated the experiences of many abuse survivors around the world?"

"Would you say no to another Twitter Q&A? And if so, does that mean yes?"

Some more...

"Would you agree that your book #50ShadesOfGrey is to good literature what Taco Bell is to Mexican food?"

"Is there a safe word which will stop you from writing anymore of this bollocks?"

"#AskELJames you do realize that if Grey wasn't a billionaire, the 50 Shades trilogy would be one hell of a Law & Order episode?"

"#AskELJames ...does the E.L. Stand for ELiterate?"

"Sweet mercy, there's so much I want to #AskELJames
Most start with "why" and end with the implacable howling of the damned."

Want proof?, take some women to see Magic Mike XL....LOL....

Personally, I thought the movie stank bad, even worse than the first one...but the women I took were basically puddles in their seats. I was originally just going to drop them off, but they talked me into staying for it.

It (first one, and part of this one) was filmed locally, so the first one was fun to kind of see local landmarks, etc. This one didn't even have that to help save it for me....

At least it succeeded on the goal of making the wife pretty amorous, so all I can really say about it.

All I know is that the day this movie was released that my fiancé and I went to the porn store, bought rope, whips, more cuffs and some other stuff. We went to the liquor store, she got Vodka and I Whiskey and we went home, played a sexual related board game and then proceeded to have a good night. I am all for anything that motivates my fiancé into this type of adult activity.
