Holiday Sky Show: Five Planets to Shine in Predawn

Topic started on 16-12-2004 @ 09:53 PM by jeeze louise

For all you stargazers out there, think of this as a gift from the skies. Hopefully it will be clear enough for the observation!

A heavenly show awaits stargazers this holiday season: Over the next few weeks sky-watchers can spot five planets in the same nighttime sky.
The planets, visible to the naked eye, will appear spread across the sky in the minutes before dawn. Mercury, Venus, and Mars will shine in the east, while Jupiter will hover overhead, and Saturn will hang in the west.

This does happen from time to time, butI think it is very cool that it is going to be visable over the holidays!

Err. It has been cloudy here for couple of weeks now. So there goes my sky watching of five planets.

I saw Jupiter and Saturn early this morning at about 6. Too bad I don't have a Sattellite.
