Winning and losing are vital parts of competition; they must be enforced where they don't already exist.

The US mixed economy and democratic republican form of government that balances individual versus group rights are probably among the best systems ever designed by humankind.

Too bad we're in the process of destroying both.

well we've tried every possible scarcity scenario and it almost always ends up the same: lots of dead people. that's not even necessary.

No amount of abundance would ever satisfy the human need to compete and to dominate others.

We right now, today, have sufficient wealth to take care of every person on the planet forever multiple times.

Yet, what are we doing with it?

Greater technology, more mechanization and industrialization, would only allow the elites to steal more from us all.

There has to be a fundamental change in the human being, which seems, from all I can tell, to be a long, long way off.

well the elite would have to get use to the idea that it's preferable to have everyone happy, than to have widespread misery and suffering, as that usually leads to bad places. they've been rebooting countries for awhile now, by blaming their behavior on the citizens.

for example: earmarking taxes for non goverment related personal profits to the tune of several billion dollars a year, is lunacy, when there are people starving in our cities and rural areas. they waste so much of our tax money on making themselves rich, and then try to make the poor think they dont have enough to survive because the citizens are greedy bastiches. nope.

Not necessary ... but it keeps happening.

In every human society large or small.

There is a social order. There are the haves, the have nots and the have mores.

Yes, it is unnecessary, but so are most diseases. Yet, we have anti-vaxxers claiming that they have the right to bring the worst plagues of humanity back to us. Why? Because it is their right to deny their kids vaccinations.

As I said, a balance between the rights of the many and the rights of the one.

We're not there yet.

it keeps happening because we keep running the scarcity paradigm. you can still "dominate" and "compete" in games and sports in an abundance type of system.

who is "he" you refer to?

Sir Xuenchen, Minister of Mockery and Laughter for the Uber-Conservative Caucus

But really - anyone who is on ATS is perfectly capable of looking up their own resources. I think it is the responsibility of every voting citizen to understand what they are voting against.

I see no evidence of that statement in any system of governance, society, or politico-economics that we've ever created as humans.

Thus, I would say again, you are speaking in terms of possibilities; ideals.

I have never said that ideals are bad. Merely untenable at our current development as a species.

sure you can see evidence of it. have you ever seen the elaborate financial systems people come up with for online games? it's not even real money lol its just for social currency and bragging rights

people put their efforts into things they will never make anything other than social currency for. here's an example

i'd say you're not acknowledging the desire for people you disagree with, to vote their consciences.

You have absolutely ZERO basis to make that statement. I have never said or hinted that people shouldn't vote their conscience.

People buying or watching porn is NONE of your business.
Other people's marriages are NONE of your business.
Other people's medical choices are NONE of your business.

Now, who's not acknowledging other people's desire to live by their own conscience, here? Projection much?

of course, controlling someone else's body is just flat wrong.

As in controlling someone else's medical, marital or viewing choices? Agreed! It's flat wrong!

but have you ever considered what happens in totaltarian regimes, like communism? they forced the women of china to have iuds implanted and put significant pressure on them to have only 1 child, which resulted in the abortion of an entire generation of female children.

EXACTLY why the government shouldn't be involved in reproductive choices! Thanks for proving my point.

And why don't you answer my question about me "winning" and you "losing"? Because you can't. It makes ZERO sense. The difference between you and me is that you think other people should behave according to YOUR beliefs. I think people should have the FREEDOM to choose, whether it's to watch porn, marry who they choose or have an abortion. You obviously don't have a clue about freedom.

precisely, my only pet peeve is abortion and even that has provisos. the rest of it, as you say, is none of my beeswax.

i just figure we have enough forms of birth control now, short of accidents or rape, there's really no reason for educated women to be accidentally pregnant. i had 3, 2 of which were unscheduled. i didn't abort them cause the idea turned my stomach. but i learned after the third one, that, if there was no other way to avoid accidents, i'd have to get creative lol

well i said people vote their consciences. it's something you can't stop until you take away their right to vote. personally, i think we've sacrificed enough fetuses to mollech (figuratively of course). india and china alone, in the last 10 years, have aborted more females than are currently alive in the usa, today.

And your conscience tells you to control other people's choices. I get it. You're not alone in the idea that you're all for freedoms, unless they disagree with YOUR opinions. You probably support freedoms that align with your views, but would prefer government step in and deny other people the SAME freedom to make choices based on THEIR views, because your views are... well... inherently superior. Don't feel bad. it's a VERY common stance for many religious people.

personally, i think we've sacrificed enough fetuses ...

Oh, I know your opinions. And I can clearly see how you want to control others, using those opinions. I get it. I see it all the time.

i think it's genocide once it's fertilized. i would naturally not want people to commit genocide. i did some research on this, and almost every religion in the world, including buddhism, doesn't approve of abortion, even if they have to accept it. but then buddhists don't believe in killing anything, really, so that's not surprising.

Do you know what genocide means???

Genocide is the systematic destruction of all or a significant part of a racial, ethnic, religious or national group.

You can think it's genocide, if you want. Clearly, your mind works in mysterious ways. But abortion is not genocide, unless a particular racial, ethnic or religious group is targeted.

Why would I give a rat's ass what religions think? Seriously! Is that supposed to sway me on my views of freedom? I believe life begins at conception and I would NOT choose to have an abortion, even if I were raped. But that's MY view and MY choice, to be applied to ME.

That's an example of online gaming, yes.

People cooperate in online games, yes.

Does this say anything about the wider scope of humanity in the terms we're discussing, no.

You're pointing toward small, insulated examples and claiming that applies to the whole.

i think the black community has lost a significant amount of children as a result of abortion. considering their population is lower nationally, it fits the definition of self-inflicted genocide for them. globally, it targets the youngest part of the population.

I'm getting quite tired of this Christian persecution complex. It's ridiculous.

Do you know why Christians shouldn't get involved in a war with IS? It's not because everyone would blame Christianity and persecute its adherents. No. It is because IS wants Christians to engage in a holy war, and that is the last thing we need right now. 2.2 billion people subscribe to Christianity. 1.6 billion others are Muslims. We do not need a new crusade or jihad.

Let me say this very clearly. No rational person wants to persecute or murder you. No rational person will do so. You aren't blamed for anything that you do not do, but you may be personally offended when your religion is accused of transgressions. In the end though, it doesn't really matter. This exclusive persecution only exists in your mind. You aren't a human shield for Israel, but you may think you are. No rational person is calling for your death, but you may think so. Christianity is not being exclusively persecuted by any significant entity, but you may think that is the case.

This persecution complex has to stop.

I do agree with some of what you say in this post, however, there are countless threads on this very site that keeps on complaining about Christianity and its followers. On a virtually daily basis new threads are created to either complain about or disprove the Bible.

Surely if you get told you are wrong every day, you too would start developing a "complex" and try to defend your beliefs. As you said there are 2.2 billion Christians in this world, and a VERY small percentage of them will ever try to shove their beliefs down your throat, those who do can be ignored, or are we not mature enough to walk away from a fight?

Obviously they didn't go through with it. Because there are still (too many) Christian Fundies. Even more intense than they were 10 years ago.

I can't believe how lame this video is....

The government want too prevent you from believing in GOD by giving you a Vaccine.
They are serious , WHATTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!! They believe , that believing in GOD is a disease , that must be cured with medicine.
THEY CAN GET STUFFED , THEY CAN GO AND SHOVE THAT NEEDLE , RIGHT WHERE THE SUN DONT SHINE.

Christians !!! this is just one more sign of the times we are living in.

This is an old video I did for another channel , but it was very hard too find. Hopefully it will now get some better coverage.

OH YEAH! CHRISTIANS!!!

Yeah - ten years ago some yahoo tried again to demonize the secular people. Another "Vaccintation" attack. Or, sorry - "vaccintaion."
