"Mr. DWI" in trouble again
12/15/2004 5:11:26 PM
Bill Sutton

The man nicknamed Mister DWI is in trouble again.
63yearold Jerry Zeller was arrested Saturday by police for failure to appear in court for an October drunk driving charge.

This is Zeller's 34th DWI arrest. Prosecutors have not been able to charge Zeller as an habitual offender in the past, since a former state law would restart the DWI conviction count after five years.

Zeller's last DWI conviction was in June of 1997, therefore Zeller only faces a misdemeanor for his recent arrest with a maximum sentence of one year in jail.

The state law was changed in July of 2001 to extend the time frame to ten years, instead of five.

After you read this article can you answer me this, how can get arested 34 times, i thought your leicese was suspened, what is wroung with our justice system. THis is pathetic, how many time will he have to do this till he kills someone, and when he does we should know that he should, and could have been in jail many times.

justest? your looking in the wrong world im sorry to say .Untill he kills someone? Drunk drivers kill people all the time and are rarly charged with anything except driving under the influence wich on the first offence is 30 days jail one year probation and licence suspended only untill you have compleated the safe driving corse copple hours tops.
Heck people kill people over 10$ now a days and walk .I live in a small town that doesent even rate a traffic light and we get 4 or 5 murders a year here and not one of thous people stay in jail long.
On the other hand shot a eagel and your going up the river for 10 years and a 5 to 10,000$ fine and they take most of what you own to boot.
Save the whales but dont worry about that guys poor 6 yearold girl that was hit by a car or kill in a drive by .Human life rankes very low on the scale in this inlightened world.

What in the world does the Patriot Act have to do with this? It's a poorly wriiten set of state laws; start by calling your local congresscritters.
