they were russians? what makes you think that?

Dialect mostly they have more of a Russian accent than Ukrainian. I have a harder time understanding the Ukrainian version of Russian.

the very first thing said in the video is "Hranati". a Russian would say "granati". that's most definitely Ukrainian dialect.

Think you miss heard unless you think they were talking about food?? Russians use the word raphata listen carefully though Russians can say it like ghrenaday or sounds similar anyway if we try to break it down to english.

Just a few observations. The soldiers are in a dug in fighting position.
Meaning they expected an attack from the direction of the village.
No one digs a 6 foot by 20 foot long hole for the fun of it.
That's a lot of effort for a peaceful village.

In videos of house fires is it common to see secondary explosions?
The Ukrainian soldiers obviously hit something that contained a lot of ammo to cook off.
It looks like they just foiled an attack on their position and are fairly happy about it.

As far as the language goes it's fairly tame compared to the things I heard in the army.

The interpretation of the video seems a bit biased.
Not the translation but the meaning that people are taking from it.
