Im planning on opening a store that sells military surplus, new gear, military collectibles, various clothing, ammo, and guns. I want to expand later into teaching survival and other classes. I already have pretty much all the other aspects of the business figured out, but when it comes to a name I am stumped. I thought Fishkill Supply Co. would be a good one after I learned about the Fishkill Supply Depot during the American Revolution, but I think it would be a little too confusing. So I started kicking around other ideas and just cant find one that fits my store idea and doesn't sound too "wannabe warfighter". I am a veteran so i wanted something military sounding without being overly cliche but all the names i like are already taken.

If you have any ideas please let them be known. I can't offer anything right now, but maybe a T-Shirt, hat, or discount later on.

what i am trying to avoid:
"Tactical"

Often there will be a base nearby where many of your customers will work. Linking the store name to the Battalion number or Battalion nickname or Base name is a great way to identify with your customer base.

Good Luck!

Check with registered and trademarked names so you don't get in trouble with sound-a-likes...because you will...even if it's a completely different kind of business-trademark.

Protex The 2nd.

Toughie man. A brand name is important. How about... Your Last Survival Stop?

Whatever you decide make sure to check domain name availability as well. Very important step that many miss.

Sometimes just a brand-able name is a great way to go.

Kijiji for example.

Peace

If "Fishkill Supply Depot" is a historical thing, you should never be naming something in a historical name unless you have the rights for it. You may get sued for naming something after history like "Alexander the Great". It also causes confusion if you get put in history or Google for example.

What about "Gray Wolf Army Supply Depot."

Note: You should put Army, Militia, Military between the animal name and "supply depot" depending which one you want.

Maybe some animals may help.
en.wikipedia.org...

Like "Red Fox Supply Depot."

Or something more exotic a combination. "Thunder Bear Supply Depot."

If your gonna take animals, make sure you use a animal image/logo.

"Ricky Recon's navy SEAL ranger delta force commando supplies and stuff" is my suggestion. Though that might require a pretty big sign.

Should you not like the totally gnarly name mentioned above, keep it simple. There's a place near me that goes by "American Surplus."
