It's amazing how Arpaio continues to avoid any real punishment. Even when he gets busted the only thing that happens is the MCSO gets fined. Which all that means is the people have to pay for it. Arpaio and his cronies have cost the people from Maricopa County several millions dollars due to their flaunting of the law and Constitution. He's like a Mafia don. Even when it looks like he's finally gonna go down for corruption someone else takes the blame for him.

Why hold Arpaio accountable when the Federal government is failing to do its job along the border. Where are the federal courts on that matter and why are they not ordering them to execute the immigration laws?

And because of that it gives Arpaio the right to deprive people of their Constitutional and human rights? It makes it OK for him to essentially ignore cases of sexual and child abuse? It allows him the use the people of Maricopa County as his own personal piggy bank?

At least the current administration is attempting to do something about the immigration issue. Deportations are up under Obama. But short of building a Berlin-esque Wall there's no way the government can curb illegal immigration. At least not until the government decides to start actually going after those companies that hire illegals. But not even Arpaio is willing to go after them. Instead he would rather have his officers pull over speeders and end up arresting the brown guy in the passenger seat for no reason other than his appearance.

If the feds did their job then maybe Arpaio could refocus more resources into those areas. Secondly, as I am not familiar with your background, investigations can take a long time to investigate. People seem to have a hard time understanding the concept of - Elements of a crime.

Elements MUST be met in order to violate the law. If those elements are not meant then there is nothing the police nor prosecutor can do.

Actually no they are not. What the administration reported was based on combining stats from 2 very distinct areas that are not suppose to me merged together.

There are 2 categories -
#1 - people who make it into the US and get caught days weeks months later. Those people who are caught go through the process of INS hearings etc.

#2 - people who cross into the US who are immediately caught at the border. Those individuals are returned almost immediately.

The concerning stats belong to group #1 and is why there is so much hoopla about the administration failing to do its job for political expediency for interest groups who represent foreign nations.

When those numbers aren't skewed deportations under Obama are significantly less, even when compared to other Presidents.

When the government refuses to enforce laws and use BCP as nannies of course its impossible to curb illegal immigration.

I think we should adopt the same immigration laws that Mexico has. I am going to assume you aren't familiar with them. If you aren't research them. Then you can bitch about human and constitutional rights.

What are the comparative stats to other law enforcement agencies in the county? region? state? district? How does the sheriff's office perform resource management?

What are the crime stats for the county / cities within the county? Where are those crimes occurring.

You are certainly entitled to your point of view however I think you may be missing a lot of details that could answer the questions you posed.

Tell that to Sabrina Morrison. She was raped by her uncle. When the rape kit came back with semen the ME requested a blood sample. Instead the MCSO told her the rape kit turned up no evidence. Four years later all this came out and her uncle finally confessed. But I guess investigations are hard when all you have to go on is the only witness naming a suspect and their DNA.

Of course the MCSO were given had $600,000 added to their budget to hire more detectives to investigate sex crimes. To this day MCSO administrators can't explain where this money is going but it's not going to hiring new detectives.

Oh yeah, the new AZ governor (think the guy from Walking Dead with the eye-patch ... just add an ill fitting suit) just trashed the visitor logs for his office so the public can't see who is selling/buying influence and the new legislature is attempting a bill to forbid the Feds from prosecuting/investigating state employees... like ol' Joe.

Gosh I love this state...

Unfortunately, I got the stories from the Az Daily Star paper paper... from the last few days... and Google isn't being helpful for once, or I'm a lousy searcher... but it should be on Starnet... unless I've totally broken with reality, that is.

eta it MIGHT also be in the Tucson Weekly... current affairs pages and web.

Arpaio is like a throw back to the "Good Old Boys Club" of the Deep South.

If you're local, you've read many articles and blogs going back for years ---- that aren't on the MSM.

It's a hell of a lot more then just illegal Mexicans. 'Cuz I asure you Sheriff Arpaio only sees brown skin.

24 years a resident of AZ. And a news junkie.

What about you?

Of course you know there are illegal Chinese, Canadians, etc in the Phoenix area.

Go ahead, Google Chinese coming across the southern border.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that most of the illegal aliens coming over our border her in AZ are Latin Americans.

Really, all of them? I'll tell you what when I go into Tempe tomorrow I'm going to ask Mrs Flores if she has ever been targeted by his sheriffs office but I doubt it since she voted for him at every election.

Instead of hypotheticals, straw mans, and irrelevant bashing, how about YOU propose a better idea of how to deal with the illegals.
Not my job. Not Arpaio's either. The law doesn't work, we know that. It's up to Congress to do something about it. But I do know it's not as simple as a lot of simple minded people seem to think.

I already said I don't live there.
I also asked how well Arpaio's "system" has been working. How has it?

It's not up to congress. They don't give 2 #s about what is happening on the Southern Border from their Federal Utopia 1000 miles away from even Florida, let alone Arizona. Illegal Immigration is not their problem, it is however, Arizona's. How about this: I won't tell you the best say, grocery store is best for you to shop at, as long as Congress doesn't try to tell Arizona the best way to maintain their state sovereignty. They don't care.

How are you going to tell him what life is like in AZ when you don't even live there? You live in a completely different area. You only know what the Liberal Propaganda has told you is supposedly going on. That is no better than some person not from Chicago saying the entire city is a slum, which I'm sure is far from the truth. Or just like how people think Texas is the Wild West because of their gun laws, when instead they don't even have a city in the top 20 most violent. But you all think that people are dying en masse in Texas because their government actually you know, TRUSTS it's citizens.
