I'm waiting for Susan Rice to make a statement.

Maybe some clarity will come out of this.

We'd be more apt to gain clarity on this situation from a Janay Rice statement than from Susan Rice. Hell, Minute Rice is arguably more informative.

A fact which I'm 100% positive was intended from the start of her tenure as Security Advisor... somewhere, while muttering profanities so baratone they can scarcely be understood, Henry Kissinger is facepalming.

You're Right on that Sturmason, Just as The French Marines and Foreign Legionnaires did in 1953 (Diem Bien Phu). A wise man would probably pull them out of there and don't give Isis even a chance at a possible Huge Psychological Victory. IMHO

The only way to get them out now is by air, which is vulnerable to ISIS MANPADS and even heavy machine guns. There's only one road through town to the airbase, and that entire area is now under ISIS control.

Real question: Why in the hell are American troops still on the ground in Iraq? At this point this whole shebang should be between ISIS and Iraq's security force and, if that security force fails, the US should stand back and allow Iran and Syria to clean the dog crap out of their own back yards and stay the hell out of it. Those Marines are NOT protecting American freedoms or American safety over there at this point.

Lay down as many booby trapped munitions as possible for ISIS to find, kick the sand off their boots as they board the transports, and return them all safely to the USA. Then assign them to our nation's Southern border where our honest to goodness freedoms and security are being jeopardized by an external enemy aided and abetted by internal authorities.

Words of wisdom in these perilous times. Unfortunately I do not believe your wisdom fits the agenda of the criminals running the show.

I am sure the Marines were watching some offensive video that enraged isis.

Again, I just find it odd that this is getting so little attention in the news.

Yes...for all intents and purposes, the Marines are surrounded...with safe evac very problematic.
Benghazi 2?

I guess the White House is still busy trying to explain away the awkward and sudden evacuation of the Embassy personnel in Yemen.

Been searching Sky, ITV & BBC News here in the UK and not a single word of this has yet been confirmed.

This is similar to the supposed Nuclear attack on Dometsk earlier in the week. Nothing confirmed , then a lot of red faces.

Pffffffft, IF the truth ever comes out, we will see that ISIS was created by the same governments that used their actions to create MORE draconian laws against the people who believe in this fear mongering terrorist crap! It's already been done! Remember 9/11?

Yupp, its the same game as 2001.
Just the names have changed.

So much for all that 'hope and change'. Maybe this will wake some people up that still believe R or D make a difference.

Now that is hope for change.

And, some of the manpads that are making things problematic may have come from the Benghazi debacle.
Hillary? Are you watching this? Like you watched the SEALS take out bin Laden?
And like you watched Benghazi burn in real time?
This time she is probably eating buttered popcorn.

FYI: Valerie Jarrett was born in Iran. Connection to Obama's current foreign policy in the M.E.?
It's getting harder and harder to believe that all this FUBAR is unintentional.

Somebody in the White House must think ISIS is just a spontaneous protest.

Well Zaphod, then it comes down to The Old Risk/Reward Calc doesn't it? Losing that number of service people all at once would be a disaster and if it were me I wouldn't take that risk at all and from what some of our NON US MSM watching members, this has been known about for months (BBC). Our Service Members Lives are just too valuable to gamble with.

I would like to know how much available ordnance is at the Marine's disposal. Certainly they have field arms and supplies, but since it was being used as a training facility, I wonder what is available. God Speed and kick ass.

And losing an entire group of helicopters or Osprey and THEIR crews trying to get them out would be a disaster too. You'd have to use CH-46/47s and CH-53s, capable of carrying 44-45 troops at a time. But they're slow, and extremely vulnerable. You'd need 8 at least just to carry out the troops on the ground. That's six crew members on each helicopter. Plus gunships for escorts. You'd need a massive airlift operation, risking another hundred or more lives.

They've got plenty of air support in the region they can call on.

FA-18 strikes, cruise missile strikes from subs/ carriers, along with the entirety of nato if they can hold out 4-5 days.
