It'll be interesting to see the people who my be against this movie and yet, supported "The Interview".

Watching. . . .

I have no doubt.

After 7 years of not being able to criticize our dear leader.

Voltaire said something about who we aren't allowed to criticize.

The movie "The Interview" would have lost money if it didn't have the publicity by way of N. Korea.

By way of? More like at the expense of.

The publicity was planned a little closer to home.

Not allowed to criticize? Obama has had almost nothing BUT criticism thrown his way for the entirety of his two terms. Only the most rabid left-wingnuts have vehemently defended him.

Why the non sequitur?

I'm sure that subject was well covered on the Interview threads.

Agreed.

As a socialist, liberal, artsy-fartsy Canadian member of ATS, I have little good to say about the presidency of Obama. The term ' let-down' comes to mind immediately.

As far as getting up in arms about a movie like this, I'm all 'meh'. When it comes to film, nothing is sacred nor should it be. There's ratings to keep the children 'safe' (LOL) and perhaps this one should be deemed GK50 (Grassy Knoll) to keep crazy people from thinking a Kennedy/Dallas Redux would be a good idea.

More irony.

The Interview was the false flag that allowed freedom of speech to be challenged by western authorities.

The outcome here is Bill 51. A law against "terrorist propaganda" on the interweb.

They don't seem to realize that by making any issue one-sided it can't be anything BUT propaganda.

In a sequence that should get tongues wagging at distributor 20th Century Fox’s sister network Fox News (also owned by Rupert Murdoch),

And it looks like that has worked a treat - Marketing 101 - A++

People criticized Reagan for not holding a news conference for months.

Then they remembered he actually got shot.

Where have you been? There's LOADS of criticism leveled at Obama every single day! You're one of the main critics! What do you mean "not being able" to criticize him?

As far as this movie, who cares?

Just doing my Patriotic duty.

In the words of Hillary:

Oh yeah I see the cognitive dissonance.

Patriotic was replaced with Racist for the last 7 years.

I didn't like it when they killed the North Korea leader in The Interview and I don't like it whne htey kill BoB in Kingsman: The Secret Service. Making fun of real people, even with bad taste, is one thing, but killing em, even as a joke? Idk, maybe it's because I never wanted to bully anybody when I was growing up. Then again, I still think the North Korean leaders are crazy and hurting their people. I can imagine the North Korean leader would love to see comics about killing BoB in state newspapers, ASSUMING htey have hte money and resources to actually do that sort of thing.

And tha's what's sad about all this. They really really care about whether their leader is being killed in a movie comedy, but what about the fact their country is a mess and like blind fools all they can do is put more resources into their military? WHAT resources? To what end is it serving to invest in war at this moment? If they had any brains at all they'd stop doing that and form better relations with china/russia to educate and actually strengthen their population, SO they can afford their military.

What they're doing is earning hte negative reputation. Saddam and Gaddafi fell because of a lifetime of bad rep. Even a few moments of clarity is not enough to clean up after all that mess they made.

And still you don't get it......

Have a look at these words you wrote:

and then consider that you have been doing exactly that.....both statements cannot be true - either you have been banned from criticizing (not allowed) - or you have been criticizing and so obviously have NOT been banned - which is it?

What's the problem? This isn't the first time a British film killed off one of our presidents.

Yep someone doesn't get it.

Ask a moderator how many complaints I have.

Back to the topic.

Since a movie is the topic here, and not posters.

Remember, there's a difference between everyday people criticizing a president and a well known public figure doing it. At most the normal people will face ostracism, famous people can be trampled on for all to see and often face other complications.
