Vatican Promoter of Justice Gian Piero Milano announced in a 50-page report on Vatican crime released Saturday, Jan. 31 two instances of possession of child pornography were uncovered within Vatican walls.

Of the two individuals who work and or live in the Vatican and were found in possession of child pornography, Vatican spokespeople only named one: former archbishop Josef Wesolowski.

Wesolowski was arrested in the Vatican last September for allegedly paying to have sex with little boys during his tenure as papal ambassador in the Dominican Republic. The other individual busted for possession of child pornography remains unidentified.

After years of coming under fire worldwide for sexual crimes and cover up scandals allegedly committed by priests, Pope Francis, has publicly espoused a zero-tolerance policy for pedophilia in the Catholic Church. Pope Francis has established a 16-member child protection commission to that end, encouraging clergy to speak out against sex crimes, regardless of fear or concerns for appearances. Pope Francis acknowledges that these efforts to cover up wrongdoings damage trust in the church.

“There is absolutely no place in ministry for those who abuse minors,” Pope Francis stated in a letter published Feb. 5. “Families need to know that the church is making every effort to protect their children. They should also know that they have every right to turn to the church with full confidence.”

In addition to the two individuals charged with possession of child pornography, the Vatican report detailed other crimes uncovered in the Vatican in 2014, including money laundering, drug trafficking and intercepted drug packages. One such package intercepted last year contained condoms filled with coc aine.

In spite of the revelations detailed in the Vatican justice report and Pope Francis’ tough stance, only six people were arrested and imprisoned in the Vatican last year; two of these were protestors.

Im starting to like this pope.
In all the centuries of papal history has there ever been a pope like this one? with balls of steel to stand up to the evil forces that make up a big part of the vatican?
Is it all a ruse/deception to gain sympathy?

I would like to agree with the former!

a reply to: lucifuge Within Vatican walls? Yikes... talk about "losing your religion". Trafficking and money laundering instances as well? The Vatican really is just like any other government/mobb - they do whatever they want regardless of any casualties or consequences. This is SICKENING. And people would kiss the ring of the Pope... HA. ABSURD. People are willfully ignorant when it comes to their beliefs..

We should execute them for making an Oath to Jesus and disgracing the teachings of his temple, because it the Abrahamic thing to do with sinners.

When are we going to get with the program and do a top down restructuring of the Vatican and the Catholic Church? Even "believers" should agree that without a fundamental change in the way the catholic church trains, supports and selects candidates for priesthood, we will most likely never see an end to the mistreatment of children and women within the church.
