There's been a lot of this lately!

bright blaze of light streaked across the sky over New Zealand on Wednesday night just after 10 p.m. local time. It’s believed to be a meteor.

According to the New Zealand Herald, a “huge blinding flash” and an intense explosion of blue and white light was seen over much of the country, from Whangarei in the north to upper South Island. Reports of multiple sonic booms, in particular from the Waikato and South Auckland areas, appear to be trending, according to WeatherWatch.co.nz, which is collecting eyewitness reports. Some people heard a low rumble after seeing the lights, others felt as if their house was shaking.

Is it just me or are we seeing a big increase in these sorts of sightings?

Luke 21:25 - "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;"

There's been a lot of this lately!

Could you please clarify;

Do you mean heaps of meteors getting filmed on dashcams, or

Multiple threads appearing about the same topic

Kind Regards

Cool footage.

Shame about the religious commentary.

As for an increase, if you put the number of filmed fireballs each year alongside dash cam sales, you might just see a correlation..

You'd need a bit more information and data for it to be any more than that.

It's a shame that you were offended(or whatever) by the religious commentary, as you put it. I meant no offense.

That's all I can offer in response I'm afraid, as I'm definitely not going to edit it out, and I'm definitely not going to apologize for it.

Thankfully this one didn't cause any damage like the Chelyabinsk meteor did. Very cool sight to see.

No need for it, it was just my opinion and my take on it. That's what a forum is for after all. It's a shame people have a problem with that nowadays.

I heard/saw the result of the sonic boom from this.

We have large bi-fold glass doors facing North and last night, there was a low frequency boom and the doors appeared to "ripple" or "wave" noticeably.

As this was at night and the doors are heavy and very securely affixed, the energy in the sonic boom must have been significant.

Because the doors face North and Tauranga is a two hour drive south of here, I didn't see any flash. Nonetheless the boom startled me.

I don't think it's a matter of the media picking up on reports, or them being filmed more due to the increase in smartphones, dashcams, etc or even the fact that the internet has connected us so we're more likely to hear of these reports...I think it's a matter of the times changing and as you quoted signs that things are not going well.
