Number 1; I am looking for a short wave receiver world wide band that isn't going to break the bank.

I've been looking into a few things and the ones I've tried suck, so I'm hoping for some advice/direction.

Number 2: this is more of an intellectual exercise.

If you were living in Westphalia germany, and it hit the fan, which direction would you bug out?

I am asking about a bug out because of the current tension between Russia and the west.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pick any starting point on a map.
Go N,S,E,W for 50 miles each way.
Whats there? Now...would you bug-out TO any of those?
And what about those already there..LEAVING TOWARDS you-50 miles from them?
Theres your answer....only you can figure that out.

For number 2: Id swing over to Andorra....not politically involved in much and they have many wealthy people there. That gives you France as a buffer if you really think you need it.

And the French Foreign Legion trains in those mountains so maybe you can meet some and join up haha

That's actually a good solid piece of advice, in my opinion.

A bug out location needs to be far enough away to get you out of the chaos, but close enough that you can get there without much effort and in minimal time.

The location needs to be somewhat secluded and in an area that you think other people are not going to congregate to either.

And most importantly, the surrounding area needs to have the necessary flora and fauna to sustain you as a means of building a shelter, making fire, access to food resources, and a potable water source.

I got a chinese import receiver that is a hand crank. Good band coverage but it's plastic so is a light duty item. As a bonus it's got a charging port for cell phones. Was only $30 or so but I had to look all over the place. Finally found it at a survival specialist shop and ordered it over the Net. I also got a bucket of survival food tablets from them.

72hours.ca...

I got this one but it was cheaper and on sale when I got it...

You'd have to state your location to get decent advice to be honest and I'm not familiar enough with Germany to help. Your bug out can't be too far. You want isolated. Up a mountain a bit, not in the valley. Beside a small stream for water. Buy a small plot of land, dig a hole and bury a used shipping container. Attach a defendable entrance, dig out a long trench to connect a secret air supply tube. Bury/cover everything and camo the entrance. Start stocking up your necessary supplies.

Good Luck!

I have a Degen solar/dynamo radio/flashlight/charger for news, and PRC military radio for communication. Both cheap and awesome. Gotta dig up the latter though.

Go west, to the coast. If you need to leave europe outright, you've got air and sea options that way

Thanks for the advice, I know number 2 didn't have a lot of info but I figured opsec, Lotta folks in Europe may like to kill a us servicemen or family member.

Thanks I'll look into the degeneration and prc.

My only concern with a westward move is in the event it's a shooting war there might be a crush of people heading that way.

If I can figure out a how to get there I was thinking Sweden area might be a good area long term.

I've got a couple good spots in mind close by but they will only be good a few days max. I've got 2 military instalations within 15km of me. So in the event of a shooting war this area will be hot fast.
