Ohio cop back on job after he makes death threats

Niles, Ohio...

This cop threatened to kill someone because he said they stole a gas can from his mother's yard. He purposely had dash cams turned off
so his actions weren't recorded. Is that not criminal? It's certainly illegal. But he's back on the job!

According to the police report, another officer arrived and Officer Mobley instructed him to shut off his dash camera, claiming it was for a legitimate law enforcement purpose, when it was for the sole purpose of not wanting his words recorded while threatening Huffman.


At least he was penalized. According to the article, he will lose paid leave and vacation time which will amount to several thousand dollars.
The other penalties include forfeiting compensatory and vacation time and other leave in the amount of several thousand dollars.

Good! Hit where it hurts! When they get "administrative leave" it's basically a few days of paid vacation and a reprimand, which does nothing. If it's a law suit, it's tax payer money that gets awarded. This is what needs to happen every time an officer is caught breaking the rules. Take it out of their own pocket and you'll start seeing a difference.

Death threats over a gas can? And he wears a badge a carries a gun?
Why didn't he just arrest the guy for theft?

Death threats and removing evidence yet his punishment is a couple thousand dollars in damages?

The two tier justice system rolls on...

That's easy we get no punishment as we would be the authority....now if you threatened your neighbor as a citizen you would be in jail,or at least punished severely

This is why you cannot allow LEOs to have the ability to turn off recording devices, or modify them, or erase them.

And since some of these findings are criminal, we can expect to see the prosecutor file charges real soon, right?
