Trolling? I've known first generation families from China that come here and work together and within 15 years they are rich lol. If you have dreams and a strong work ethic sky is the limit if you embrace socialism then well good luck with that then you will probably be poor and on food stamps

you know as well as I do the availability of land and resources in those countries compared to the United states. For example here in America it is no big deal for a middle class citizens to own a couple acres of land with a 2400 square foot home and own three vehicles without having a college degree as long as they are willing to work for. That is your made up definition based on consumerism and materialism, which is constructed via industry and media. Economists and social scientists do not agree with you that this is the definition.

Moreover, according to most ecological research we cannot sustain that kind of land use and car use extrapolated across the world's population. It's very wasteful and completely unnecessary.

On economic measures the US is actually becoming much lower in social mobility. It's been studied.

Also, poverty traps, economically and socially, are very powerful. Yes there are some people who are making choices to stay in those circumstances. There are also many who work hard but are struggling to get out.

I guess I should consider it a miracle that my illiterate (at the time) parents managed to beat those odds. Must have been super lucky.

Your current President is a graduate of a social science.

And, economists have created many jobs. Many of them are employed, by private firms, in the heart of their nations capital centres.

You are throwing out terms like standard of living, trying to compare to other countries, etc. THEN, I explain to you the actual definitions and sources of international socio-economic measures, and the very people who are experts in this, and you ask "how many jobs they create." For the record, economic development is one of the main routes of creating jobs, you know, often engineered in policy by "economists."

You keep stating that social sciences have never benefited business...you are aware that Economics IS a social science, correct?

Not that it matters, but how would you explain the other 15 US Presidents that held social science degrees?

How about the founding fathers? More than half had social science training.

You have to understand that people with fancy degrees don't impress me much because most of the problems we are currently having in our country are created by people with fancy college degrees! Look at how much debt our country is in! 18 trillion dollars in debt created by politicians with college degrees while the average tax paying citizen has to balance his checkbook at home! Nobody will ever convince me that a college degree is more poweful than the human mind! For example a socialist will always tell you why they can't solve a problem a free thinker will always come up with solution to the problem!
