LOL.

I remember talking to you about that one time!

I totally forgot about that too!

I kept meaning to try and get a book called "The Hollywood Standard" and trying to do a short screenplay. The hardest part of those is the format but that book is really awesome.

Great software for industry standard format is this one....

www.celtx.com...

Still interested btw....really like your style!!

Thanks, I will look into that software.

I think I am going to order that book too. Between the two of them I should be able to get the format down somewhat.

I really do think that's the hardest part of writing screenplays. It's really easy to make the whole thing look dumb just by doing things wrong.

Don't worry about that....it's the story, that's the only thing that matters!!!!

We just had a great premise dropped into our lap with this RW article. Every New Media geek in the US, that has seen this article, just started an new project.

Computer AI will be without sin.

Program Christianity (or really any religion) into it and that will most certainly set off an apocalypse, terminator style.

My thoughts exactly.

Wait... wouldn't these robots be super smart? I think they'd figure out pretty fast that the whole Jesus dying for our sins thing is bunk, lol.

Only way you'd get a super intelligent robot to believe the whole Jesus thing was if you programmed it to believe it. Sounds kinda familiar.

Didn't see the story on the main page that your link took me to...but it's a ridiculous idea...absolutely stupid.

Just for the record Rawstory is a liberal, atheist, propaganda pushing source...it's designed to make you feel like you're getting the "un-news" news but it's no better than CNN.

You think the hardest part of writing a screenplay is the formatting? LOL. Writing a good screenplay is more difficult than writing a novel. It's almost pure structure and flaws can't be hidden under florid description and interior monologue like in a novel.

Are you or the other person planning to try to sell a screenplay? If the format isn't correct, it won't even be read. You should really read a couple dozen screenplays before even considering trying to write one. It isn't like writing a grocery list.

So you laugh at my understanding that screenplay writing is primarily formatting while telling me that it's primarily formatting?

Right.

A more careful reading of my posts would have revealed that screenplays must be properly formatted before anyone in the industry will bother reading them. However, that's the least of your problems. You actually have to be able to write screenplays. The fact that you don't even know that Final Draft is industry standard screenplay software suggests that you have much to learn. No harm in that. You have to start somewhere.

I'll compare this to something with which you may be more familiar: painting. Yes, you need the proper brushes, canvases and paints. They're essential. Beyond that, if you hope to sell your paintings, you need talent and skill in the execution of this particular artform.

Final Draft is a very expensive software that does not guarantee a "final" product that meets industry standards. Such products require editing and re-editing by real life humans who know formatting, emotions, style, and everything else associated with great stories.

It is not "fundamental" in creating a professional(and powerful) draft. By you advocating it in such a provocative manner suggests that you have not bothered to try and write professionally at any point during your life.

Final Draft provides proper formatting. It doesn't write the screenplay for you. But you, being a professional screenwriter, know all. I say go for it.

I have written professionally for decades.

Sure you have.

Final Draft is simply a tool, it does not provide proper formatting. It is a tool used in conjunction with other tools.

Does Microsoft word make you a grammar specialist?

You came into the conversation being critical.

I have nothing to prove and nothing to lose.

Let me know when we can "see your work". Since you've been doing this for decades and I am a mere...what's the term?

ATSer.

When someone claims that formatting is the most difficult part of writing a screenplay, it's difficult to not laugh. Had you said that typing is the most difficult part of writing a novel, I would have laughed, too.

You're right, you have nothing to prove and nothing to lose. Go for it.

Why would I show you my work? I've got a paperboy.

Nice find OP. They really are grasping at straws these days, first they say that Aliens, should they exist would be welcomed into the church and now computers. Though i personally feel that A.I, being grounded in logic would reject such an illogical concept.

Furthermore if the church is so adamant about this let them program their own A.I's and leave the scientists to do their own thing, the church has held up the march of progress enough already!
