Muslim woman challenges PA law; Judge forbids swearing on Koran

just an annecdote - but i had the oportunity to discuss this with a moslem aquaintance last night - as the notion of a moslem man swearing an oath on a bible made me think

and my mates father was very animated on the topic -

the curx of his view was :

it is wrong for a moslem man to sear on a bible - its not a true oath

he [ the father ] would not trust a fellow moslem who swore on a bible

obvious question - why do only " abrahamic religions " get a religious oath ?????

that seems to throw every other religioun out there in the ` non-religious oath ` category

Not sure.

My best guess is maybe because it might be a tad difficult to ensure that every courthouse across the country has a copy of 6000 different holy texts ?

There's also this to consider.

The Christian Bible forbids you to lie. "The Commandments"

The Koran does not. "Shi'a Islam"

Look up Takiyya.

I'm inclined to think the Muslim Takiyya was meant to be used more for the purpose of "self preservation" than to deliberately mislead others, but over the centuries has been abused and corrupted, we're all human, we make mistakes and are prone to our vices :-P
Besides, it'd get boring being right all the time lol
