We had to bid a painful farewell to a dear old friend today, Argus. Long-time ATS members will remember Argus is the protector-icon for the R.A.T.S. forum when it launched long, long ago.

On that sad note, welcome to the long overdue Pets forum on ATS.

Oh no Skeptic!! I'm so sorry.. its never easy .. to do the right thing. Later on, with some time, remember the love, and not the loss. Heartfelt hugs

You have my sympathies, it's always difficult to lose a friend.

And thanks for the pet forum!

My little guy turns 19 this year, I'm soooo not ready for him to be gone any time soon.

I'm truly sorry to hear about the loss of your furkid. I know how much that hurts. I lost my collie/German shepherd mix in 2001 and I still miss her.

Thank you for the pet forum, by the way.

Losing a pet is always hard. May Argus feast forever in the Mead halls of Valhalla.

I am really sad to see that Argus has passed. I'm sorry for your loss. It's never easy losing someone (yes, I said someone) who has loved us unconditionally for a time. They come in to brighten our lives for but a short period of time. When they leave, the hole they create by their absence is massive and stays with us for all time.

I am glad to see that he will be remembered by not only your family, but the family here at ATS every time they come to this forum.

I know a lot of the members really wanted this, so I am happy to see it happen.

I hope that you and yours will find the strength you will need to grieve Argus and will soon be able to smile at the memories he left more than cry about the emptiness he left.

Everyone has seen this pic before probably, but it have to pull it out to christen the new forum.

Sorry for your loss. Isn't it amazing how we come to love an animal so?

I can tell that Argus got love as unconditionally as he gave it. It doesn't get any better than that.

He's a little cutie. I couldn't help but laugh at the look on his face.

So sorry to hear about Argus.

This is my idiot Pitty (he gorilla glued his toes together at about two months old), on the day we brought him a girlfriend (even though he was already fixed).

What a fitting time to open the pets forum.

I know what it's like to loose a friend, and it never seems to gets easier.

Please accept my condolences. Take comfort in knowing that Argus knew he was loved and that's really all any of us can hope for.

So sorry to hear about Argus.

This is my idiot Pitty (he gorilla glued his toes together at about two months old), on the day we brought him a girlfriend (even though he was already fixed).

I once brought home from a restaurant a cylindrical cardboard container containing a meatball for each of my dogs. I dispensed the meatballs, giving the last one and the container to my sweet pitter. I left the house for a short time and returned to find him wedged under the bed. Apparently, the container had rolled under the bed and he wasn't going to forgo a drop of meatball juice. I had to pull the mattress and box spring off the bed to extricate him. He also once got his head stuck in an ice cream carton, but that's another story.
