So kids can't play in Central Park when it snows unless the mayor says it's ok?

Sure they can. They just need to make sure they avoid the evil, animal-abusing, horse-drawn carriages that are over by Grand Army Plaza and meander through the park.

From De Blasio's presser yesterday....

"Even walking should be kept to a minimum."

Yeah, New Yorkers need the mayor to tell them when to walk now.

I am tempted to head over to Manhattan, light up a stogie, grab a 55 gallon drum of Coke (even though I do no drink it), hail a carriage and then sprinkle some salt on my trans-fats and piss him and Nanny Bloomberg off all in one shot.

De Blasio isn't a communist because of his dictatorial closures of roads, schools, and parks in advance of a fore-casted storm, he is a Communist because of what he believes--that the government is all powerful and has no limits ("The dictatorship of the proletariat is nothing less than Power backed by force, and limited by nothing--by no law and by no rule" Lenin):
www.aim.org...
Can you provide me some quotes from DeBlasio where he has expanded on his thoughts of a limitless government, or is it simply your own conjecture.

This Republican Governer Closed Massachusets Highways but I'm not seeing the outrage at Dictator Charlie Baker declaring Martial Law.

I'm sensing some hypocrisy in this thread.

Guess he was elected dictator instead of mayor. People are still gonna have to get out--to hospitals, ERs, disabled friends, pharmacies. And now they'll be committing a misdemeanor. This guy is a moron, a communist--and he's married to a black lesbian. And NYC elected him.

observer.com...

"Mayor Bill de Blasio announced this afternoon that he is shutting the city’s streets, schools and parks tonight until further notice as the city braces for a blizzard of historic proportions.

Speaking at the Office of Emergency Management headquarters in Brooklyn, the mayor—who faced criticism over the city’s response to last year’s winter storms—said only authorized city personnel would be allowed to drive on the streets starting at 11 p.m. or visit city parks beginning at 6 p.m. The restrictions may last for an undetermined number of days, the mayor said. Mr. de Blasio declared a “winter weather state of emergency” and said that thousands of Sanitation, Police, Fire, Parks, Homeless Services, 911 and 311 personnel have been working since Friday to prepare for the projected two feet of snow.

“We are ready to deal with this and whatever comes after,” he said. “The priority right now is anything related to the safety of our people."

OMG, one, yes, this storm warning is overblown. I live in NYC.

However, the Mayor's job is partly to make emergency decisions.. So your first paragraph is a bit...

Yeah, New Yorkers need the mayor to tell them when to walk now.

Cities and towns issue warnings and advisories all. the. time.

Even when a tornado warning is sounded, if you're not anywhere near the path, you're told to shelter in place. I guess people need to be told when to hide from tornadoes.

Flood advisories go out constantly. I guess people need to be told when it's wet out.

I could go on. A person advising people stay indoors during a blizzard is nothing new. Jesus.

This whole situation is an example of people getting offended that NYC overreacted to a snow storm that didn't turn out as badly as everyone thought it would. But you can bet your life that if the storm HAD panned out, no one would be saying crap about the road closings and such. People should just deal with it. Look on the bright side, if you live in NYC, you probably got a day off of work.

) < kinda sad that I have to be that obvious about it, but this is ATS and I know how some are here...

Anyways.....how the hell did I end up in this thread again?
Where am I?

Yeah, if the person being advised is 8 years old and didn't put on his boots and scarf.

Seriously, is this really what's it's come to?

The mayor of NY feels his constituents are so dumb they need him to tell them whether to walk outside in the snow?

Whether they need him to do that or not, is it a bad thing that he did it? Just because YOU may not need it, doesn't mean that it is a bad idea to warn people. Not everyone watches the news or the weather. I know I don't. I learn about the weather when I go outside for the first time in the morning. I could have benefited from that warning.

Unfortunately I am one of those fools!

Nah, obv I'd employ what little common sense I have to the situation. My tiny mind tells me a blizzard is fun, in the right circumstances. Lava on the other hand is only fun from a distance, when you can throw things in!

Have you been ignoring TV and Radio for the past few Decades?

The EAS (Or Emergency Alert System) has been in place since the early nineties. It replaced the EBS which had been around since the 60's, which THAT replaced the old CONELRAD system.

Blizzard Warnings always include advisories not to go outdoors unless absolutely necessary.

Again, this is nothing new or ground-breaking. It's business as usual.

Ironic that your signature references evolution.

Maybe you should check the weather if you live in NY before you leave your house in the morning. I heard it can snow there in January.

Page 1 of the Democrat playbook:

"You never let a serious crisis go to waste. And what I mean by that it's an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before." - Rahm Emanuel
And what of the flipside of this? What if DeBlasio came out and said "It's just a little snow, everything will be fine."

Is this really what we've come to?

Why don't you focus on improving yourself rather than getting outraged at the actions of others?

You forgot to blame obama for the snow storm.

How could the nasty blizzard be Obama's fault?

Obviously it was caused by global warming.

Could be global warming.

Yeah, just like the blizzard of 1888 was caused by global warming. 50 foot snow drifts.

Drama queen De Blasio's "historic" blizzard analysis was a bit off.

en.wikipedia.org...

Do public schools still teach history or science?

I thought you were supposed to be a scientist. You make nearly 50 posts a day, why don't you produce some evidence and show us?

You seem a little upset by this.

Perhaps rather than attempting to analyse the thoughts and motives of the mayor of New York, you could change your thought patterns to something more productive. Rather than go on and on endlessly about the stupidity of the mayor (amongst others), perhaps you could enlighten us of how to better approach this crisis/non-crisis.

What do you hope to achieve with all your whining and complaining about liberal this and race that? Perhaps you should focus on some positivity rather than your constant nitpicking.

You'd be much happier if you stopped with your faux outrage.

De Blasio is basically declaring martial law--for a snowstorm that has not arrived.

As for reasons for a white man to marry a black lesbian, (or Black man, white lesbian)--the only one I can think of is to get more of the LGT and Black (or White, as the case may be) vote--it certainly isn't faithful sex or family rearing. Such a person should never be trusted with power. It is obvious after the Garner/police episode and now this Edict of Travel that de Blasio is a near idiot, but smart enough to be devious. TPTB can get anyone elected, which could be a way of saying "join us, or suffer under the fools we put in power."

????????

What is ironic about evolution and my response? You are going to have to elaborate on that.

Well for one, I don't live in NY, if you are combing my profile you'll see I put my location up. And for two, it was just an example. Not everyone is super-on-the-ball like you must be.

im afraid you have all lived under conditioning for so long you do not see freedoms removed ,my country would riot if you tried stopping us playing in the snow blizzard or not.
