U.S. Seen Isolated At U.N. Climate Change Talks (from ATSNN)

The United States, the worlds biggest polluter, stands alone in it's resistance to join the International efforts against global warming.
Nearly 200 nations attended the conference, with the US isolating itself from the balance of the attendees. The US has held firm to the belief that it is "premature" to negotiate anything now, when Kyoto doesn't expire until 2012.



Well at least George W remains consistant in one way - he doesn't give a hoot about the environment.
This conference was a good idea, and when the world votes one way, and the US stands alone in it's own beliefs, it shows where his heart truly lies.
At what point will he acknowledge the fact that it might not be the rest of the world, it might be him.

He also stood alnoe among 70 nations who voted for regulation on sonar testing in the oceans.

Two weeks ago, the IUCN-World Conservation Union, a prestigious group of 70 nations and 400 nongovernmental organizations meeting in Bangkok, overwhelmingly passed a resolution urging governments to limit the use of loud noise sources in the world's oceans, including military sonar, oil and gas exploration and commercial shipping, until the effects are better understood. The United States abstained from the vote.

Isn't it interesting that anything and everything is always seen as a "U.S." matter or a "Bush" matter? Interesting how the article and comments herein slant directly towards condemnation of the U.S. but fail to likewise place condemnation on the others that didn't ratify the Kyoto Accords. Let's name a few, k? India and China....and Australia.

But the list of signatories to the international pact does not include the US, China and India -- all major culprits for the worldwide rise in greenhouse gas emissions.

Further interesting is that after 2012, there will others who will not ratify or will pull out of the Kyoto Accords. Italy is one of them.

But oh wait, then we have those that did sign and ratify the Kyoto Accords that will have problems meeting its emission requirements: Greece, the U.K., Canada, Finland, Russia, etc., etc., just to name a few.
