Just dipping my toes ...

I haven't written for years, but today these words came out ...

Falling deeper, vanishing light
grasping hope, even though it's a lie
this was never a fight ...
beaten, bruised, scarred and branded
hiding in plain sight
a smile masking a thousand faces
unable to connect, never taking that step
just closing my eyes and living through dreams
alone and out of sight, this is my comfort this is my right!
but if I see you around I'll gift you a smile ...
then maybe in my dreams, you can stay for awhile?
