It's OK. I don't like it when people start a sentence with "So" either because I'm never sure whether or not I should throw a comma behind it, and I hate that it creates that uncertainty in my mind. Of course, I am getting paid to deal with it, but that still doesn't mean I have to like it.

Well, an appropriate term would be "an expression"....

But otherwise, I could personally care less what you call it. After all, it truly boils down to semantics.
