Some on the right actually listen to science.

Refreshing. A republican that listens to scientists! Who would have thought?

Problem with that is Romney is not a republican.

He's a RINO.

Basically a democrat.

Which is why he lost.

Do you have a model for climate change caused by humans that you prescribe to?

How much of the debated 0.3 degree increase in global temperature was part of the long-term climate cycles?

Not particularly. I see that we are continually increasing the concentration of CO2 (and others) in the atmosphere, and I know that CO2 is a greenhouse gas. Without it and others (like water vapor), this rock would be another cold and lifeless planet. With too much of it (Venus), this rock would be another hot and lifeless planet.

Debated 0.3 degree increase? That's in the last couple of decades at most - it's risen way more than that since 1900. As for long-term climate cycles? I don't know. Perhaps it would be useful to note when humans pop up on that chart?

We probably can't screw up the atmosphere too badly to exterminate all life, despite trying. I don't know about y'all, but I kind of want humanity to be around awhile longer. Maybe get its crap together and sail off to other worlds.

Come on man...Venus really?

Venus had many times the atmospheric pressure of earth.

It would crush a human like being in the bottom of the ocean.

If you evaporated every drop of water on earth, released all the co2 and methane, our atmosphere would still be factors thinner.

Why not just use Jupiters atmosphere as an example, it has as much in common with earths as venus' atmosphere does.

As for the rest...I agree, I would like to see humanity gets is crap together and sail the oceans of stars.

He lost because he came across as elitist and pro-corporations over people. I didn't like him. I think most democrats and republicans are the same. What's really the difference between harry reid and John Boehner? Nothing.

But when you go too far right, you risk alienating the moderates that swing elections.

If you're honest with yourself, you'll see that Obama doesn't come off as much of an elitist as Romney. Obama appealed to the middle class last vote, Romney didn't. You have to ask yourself why.

LOL No he doesn't.

I realize you don't like him or his policies, but...if you are going to rail against him let it be for a real reason, like you don't like his lack of transparency, Obamacare etc...whatever. I can understand all that but you can't call him elitist. LOL

I have never seen a climate change argument that actually addresses the model that defines the weighting of ANY factors, let alone all the factors.

X = human impact
Y = termite impact
Z = Sun's impact

Is it Climate Change = 1000Z + 25Y + 140X?

Or maybe 10,000,000Z + 0.5Y + 2X?

Does anybody have any idea? I mean with Google, this should be easy to find to support the argument that humans are seriously impacting the climate... if it were true.

I agree.

They also depend 100% on computer models that have not once been accurate in any time scale.

Not of course to mention they don't even factor in aerosols and many other factors.

They have this obsession with one of the smallest parts per million trace gases in our atmosphere.

I can guess why though.

No carbon no power, except for them....they will continue to use as much as they like.

This is not science, if it were the numbers would add up, and it would all be transparent.

There is soooo much science and data and reports and articles and studies on Climate change and long term climate and man made climate change and global warming and green house gasses etc etc etc.

When you say that man made climate change is not real, it means you aren't really looking at the data.

It's like saying 2 + 2 doesn't equal 4 or that you don't believe in gravity or that because there is a fossil gap or some other issue, you don't believe in evolution, or because you don't understand electricity, you don't believe in it.

Climate change is real.

Even the Pentagon said that we need to address climate change now, in regards to national security. The pentagon, on issues like this doesn't deal in crazy theories.

I don't understand, is there a version of science that's more true than the other?

Science is pretty impartial.

Except when it isn't.

East Anglia cooking the books, placing temp censors over black top to elevate temp readings..etc...

This is not the scientific method, of observing then changing your hypothesis to meet the data, this is changing the data to meet your hypothesis.

I am not going through all this again....but this is the most questionable scientific method I have seen applied and then accepted.

Republicans and science don't mix.

I don't know how Teddy Boy Cruz became 'chairman of space'.
Maybe because he is obsessed with 'aliens'.
Someone from NASA should have told him that these ones don't wear sombreros.

Mostly damned,

Saving the planet isn't going to save your wallet.

It will make things more expensive.

It will put more people out of work.

It will create more debt.

It will create more control unlike the world has ever seen.

Such is the path of tyranny of the mob.

Well at least don't you feel better that China "promised to make its best efforts" to reduce CO2 emissions starting in 2030?

Has there ever been a cost-benefit analysis done on how much the world might actually benefit if, say, Canada and Siberia became fertile farmland?
If it came at the cost of current fertile farmlands due to overheating, I'd say the gain of northern farmlands wouldn't even it out. Plus the displacement of cities/towns/etc would cost trillions.

I don't get your doom porn mindset.

The earth has been way warmer many times, life flourished....why not this time?

The Dino's did quite well for a very long time.

More co2 in the atmosphere more bigger faster growing plants....

Believe what you want but at least apply logic.

Co2 was way way higher in past times and world was a paradise for life, not a hellish death zone.

Cherry picked data.

Any GD scientist worth his salt will tell you data is not absolute. It is subject to change.

It's like saying 2 + 2 doesn't equal 4 or that you don't believe in gravity or that because there is a fossil gap or some other issue, you don't believe in evolution, or because you don't understand electricity, you don't believe in it.

That is what the church of climatology is doing.

Climate change is real.

No kidding.

It has been doing that for over 5 billion years.

The earth gets hot. It gets cold. It gets wet. It gets dry.

The earth is not doing a GD thing it hasn't before.

Even the Pentagon said that we need to address climate change now, in regards to national security. The pentagon, on issues like this doesn't deal in crazy theories.

What do you expect ?

When it has been stacked with yes men to the administration.

The Pentagon ?

Ain't them the same folks that have nukes, and DU rounds, and like to blow snip up ?

All that is detrimental to the environment.

LOL what utter nonsense.

The earth has been way warmer many times, life flourished....why not this time?

Because humans physically kills life faster than it can regenerate...humans have taken over the habitats...the speed of global warming is faster than animals can change, because of the human acceleration.

The Dino's did quite well for a very long time.

But eventually died out...the actual reason is not known only possible scenarios.

More co2 in the atmosphere more bigger faster growing plants

Problem is again, humans cut down plants faster than they can regenerate...urbanization, and changing forest into farmland, which means the natural co2 is not absorbed, on top of that we can put the human made co2, the balance has been offset.

Co2 was way way higher in past times and world was a paradise for life, not a hellish death zone.

There was a lot more natural plantlife to absorb that co2, it is well known forest are the lungs of earth, the forest has slowly been removed over the last 5000 years by human, today it's a slaughter every day.

I tried to use as much logic as possible.

You cant stop that which comes natural to Mother Earth. No way in heck. The only thing we can do is lessen the effect man has on it.

No way can we ever stop it.

You're confusing everything together.

Let's take the pentagon. First of all: what they are concerned with is rising sea level and how that effects navel bases, seal training, marine bases and all of that. Then they are concerned with mass migration due to water shortages or rising sea level and the localized wars that will break out and if they are ready to respond, then it's oil...will any type of climate change impact the availability and price of energy that they need, specifically oil. They look at all of that. Climate change poses real threats to our military whether it's man made or not.

Now lets take science. You can't cherry pick who you want to listen to. We're talking NASA and nearly every scientific organization, college, and national scientific agency. It's like...every single scientist telling us that global warming is real...that humans are causing a lot of it and that we need to do something about it.

Now let's take common sense. Everything except a carbon tax, that pertains to actions we should take regarding global warming is generally good for everyone. Such as more renewable energy, less dependence on foreign oil, less polution, less smog, more trees, less deforestation, more recycling, more and better public transportation, better fuel efficient cars, more electric cars, more pedestrian and bike lanes, paths and walkways, better insulation for everything, more energy efficient appliances, better urban planning in regards to sea walls, below sea level construction and public transportation, action items in regards to drought, more severe storms and the migration of large populations instead of our current inadequate reactions...and on and on and on.

It only makes sense to admit there is a problem, admit that scientists generally know more about this than us, realize how stupid we sound when we say.. " I was cold this morning, there fore global warming doesn't exist." LOL and then take some action plans that help us all.

Common sense man..

Now....a back on topic...how about that republican who actually listens to science! amazing!
