"WASHINGTON - A senior Republican congressman has been warning America's intelligence community for more than a year of an alleged Iranian plot to crash commercial airliners into a New Hampshire nuclear reactor.

Since February 2003, Rep. Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania has held a series of secret meetings in Paris with a former high-ranking official in the Shah's government who has correctly predicted, according to Mr. Weldon, a number of internal developments in Iran ranging from the regime's atomic weapons programs to its support for international terrorism, including Al Qaeda.

Based on two informants inside the mullahs' inner circle, Mr. Weldon's source, whom he code-named "Ali," relayed allegations to the Pennsylvania lawmaker that an Iranian-backed terrorist cell is seeking to hijack Canadian airliners and crash them into an American reactor. The target of the operation was only identified by Ali as SEA, leading Mr. Weldon to predict it was the Seabrook reactor in New Hampshire, about 40 miles north of Boston. Ali told the congressman that the attack was first planned for between November 23 and December 3, 2003, but was postponed to take place after this year's presidential election."

This could be an Iranian "preemptive" attack.

Or it could be just another tidbit of Republican propaganda and rhetoric, all leading up to an attempted justification for attacking Iran...

Which do you think is more likely? That Iran would attack the US first....OR...that this is simply another pawn moving on the board till we move the queen?

If this were to occur, is there any question in anyone's mind what would happen to Iran?
Would the Mullah's in Iran be willing to martyr millions of residents in Teheran?
Would they?

It is hard to tell at this point. Guess we should just let it happen first then attack them. Never really liked New Hampshire anyway.

But, what if it is true? Throughout history men of true "vision" were never accepted in their own time. Didn't Billy Mitchell predict Pearl Harbor? Wasn't Patton right about USSR. How about MacArthur wanting to nuke China?

Plutarch Describes the great Suren as:

... For Suren was no ordinary person; but in fortune, family and honour the first after the king; and in point of courage and capacity, as well as size and beauty, superior to the Parthians of his time. If he went only on an excursion into the country, he had a thousand camels to carry his baggage and two hundred carriages for his concubines. He was attended by a thousand heavy-armed horse, and many more of the light-armed rode before him. Indeed his vassals and slaves made up a body of cavalry little less than ten thousand. He had the hereditary privilege in his family of putting the diadem upon the king's head, when he was crowned. When Orodes was driven from throne, he restored him; and it was he who conquered for him the great city of Selucia, being the first scale the wall, and beating off the enemy with his own hand. Though he was not then thirty years old, his discernment was strong, and his counsel esteemed the best.

DrHoracid is wise to report this dangerous threat.

Imagine the horror in people's eyes whilst they watch Spectral Cataphracts ride into the US Senate!!

Are there any reactors in the Seattle area? Just a thought.

I personally wouldnt trust a former dictators top aid, who would do anything to get back to the country and rule it again. But that just might be me.

And also if he did predict Iran getting nukes, why wasnt this announced earlier? And why is it that when Iran is under pressure suddenly all these reliable sources turn up?

I don't think Iran would be as stupid as to basically give the US a justification for bombing their country back to the stoneage. Unless it was all a setup.....

Ok, what if Iran does launch such an attack. When the US starts to give them "payback" they (Iran) launch a "dummy" missile at Israel then say, next time it will have a nuke on it. Or, say "we will nuke all the oil fields in Iraq or Saudi" Remember Saddam though he was "bullit-proof" too after buying the UN?

I'm glad the Red Sox finally won this year!!!

This is scary, not a game.

They don't think anything about blowing up our historic places.
They are nothing to them.
Just like their 5000 year old shrines and antiquities are nothing to us.
I'm sure most of the ancient sites in Irag are holes by now also.

What if... people stopped speculating about the stereotypical viewpoint that most neo-cons have regarding persons from the Middle east?

What if... the US re-addressed their foreign policies and the world suddenly realised that level headed responsible people do exist in the US?

What if... the US stopped backing Israel and told them to cease occupying the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and then supplied Guns and Ammo to the Palestinians?

What if.... the US didn't create or get involved in a war just to increase their economic interests.

What if.... people stopped treating those less fortunate than themselves as 2nd class.

I could go on, but will get flamed enough as it is.

the airline code for Seattle is SEA. Now, if all this guy knew was that they are planning on hijacking a plane and crashing it into a nuclear power plant and he had the letters SEA, it could very well be the destination code for the flight they are going to hijack.

After all the bogus intel that was shoved down the USA's throat in the run-up to the Iraq war, I would be very skeptical of this talk. It's widely known that the Neo Cons want to 'do' Iran, just like Iraq. They'll do anything and say anything to ram their agenda straight up our A double S. They are simply not credible at this point. And the Iranian leadership is not stupid.

There's no way Iran would go froggy on Sharon's Israel. The former General, as we all know, would love any good opportunity to lay waste to those cranky, crazy mooolahs.

Saddam's greatest asset may have been his ability to bluff. Think about it. If you were the thug dictator of one of the world's most oil-rich nations, you'd want to project the strongest image possible to your regional neighbors. Anyone in that position would. He had enemies all around who would've killed/undermined him for all that black gold. In the end, it appears his fears were fully justified.

What if........all terrorist in the world stopped killing innocent women and children.

What if........Hamas was a homosexual boys club (maybe)

What if........Allah wasn't a pagan false god.

What if........Islam was a real religion..........

You point?

Next..........SEA is a possible attack. A Columbia nuke site meltdown could cause the "Volcanic" hyperactivity.

The same as yours.............pointless.

You can "What if" all you like, you'll get speculative answers from speculative questions and not a true word spoken, solely tainted opinions based on your loaded question which will feed your already tainted view point of the Middle East.

Many in the US are blasting GW because his CIA don't do enough "what ifs". It takes speculation to anticipate terrorisim. Insane minds full of hate are hard to "anticipate". Mass Murder is hard to "anticipate". I have no tainted view of the middle east. I can see quit clearly what is happening there and what is coming.

I think the Bohemian Grove clique is a band of happy homos.

Once the robes are folded up, the owl's covered up and the guy's leave, they go back into their preverbial closets and throw back on their guise of self-righteousness. It's so Hoover/Hitlerian.

They should be blasting GW for not listening to the wise counsel of those analysts who strongly dissented from the stove-piped Neo-Con views that led us into this hellacious mess. Those guys and gals were brushed aside, belittled and harassed for speaking the truth.
