Well let's assume that they exist and abduct us..
Why would the Aliens want to trade anything? It's not like we could do anything about them abducting us.

Rather than trade, why wouldn't they just kidnap a bunch of people from the jungle or some other place where they wouldn't be missed and breed them themselves? It would be a lot less trouble.
ya but apparently they are not what the aliens r looking for, that and wouldn't the jungle people be full of disease? No modern medicine for them so the aliens would get sick too... They want healthy humans, well... Actually... How do u know they don't abducted jungle people either? They might... Not like they can share their story with the rest of the world

I replied an answered before... It's probably to avoid a fight, they don't want to destroy us... just use us, so they probably made a deal... Government stays out of it... Aliens abducted who they want, that deal might save all of us... But hey... Who knows what they truly want

Mabey Aliens take humans to sell them on the intergalactic slave market. Makes for a good film idea anyway.

That would be a crap movie. Why would advanced aliens who can travel faster than light need human slaves? We already have robots which are more capable of menial labor, immune to disease (a big problem if you are exposing people to alien viruses and what not), immune to radiation (a big problem in many regions of space), and do not need to be fed.

Slavery in a interstellar context makes as much sense as aliens riding horses with laser guns.
ya but wouldn't robots cost more than a human slave? Making the robot cost a lot... Then repairs, now humans tho u can breed more, don't really have to feed em much just enough to keep em awake to do ur work, dont humans can heal but robots need repair.. if u can find the parts or afford it

If there exists an Intergalactic Alien Race capable of FTL travel currently visiting us, they wouldn't need the government to "allow" them to do anything.

One thing to take into consideration is the fact that if the aliens forcibly exert their will, it would promp resistance from the civilization in question (in this case Earth), in which case there would likely be a war that could prove detrimental to the resources they seek. Why just steamroll your way in and risk damaging what you came for when more subtle means can be executed, meanwhile keeping your intentions and goals intact and covert at the same time? Lets say we discover an advanced Alien Race on Jupiter and declare war on them. So what? we can't get to them, we can't do anything to them at all. For an intergalactic Alien Race capable of FTL travel the only possible "resource" we would be able to offer them would be ourselves. Unless you believe humans are going to commit mass suicide, than I don't think they would care very much for our declarations of war.

Brains are greater than Brawn, in this situation, they would have both.

Most people who live in jungles are quite healthy. In fact some are more healthy than the average New Yorker.

No modern medicine for them so the aliens would get sick too... They want healthy humans, well...

Even healthy humans would be a threat to them getting sick because the aliens would possess no natural immunity to the bacterial and viral zoo each human being, including healthy ones carry around with them.

Yet the stories of aliens show them interacting with us as if none of that matters. Another reason to be skeptical in my opinion.

Of course this assumes the chirality of our DNA and theirs were the same:

If their chirality is opposite of ours they could interact without fear of getting sick as our biochemistry would not affect them.

Of course if that were the case then all the abduction stories about aliens wanting our DNA etc go out the window so again, reason to be skeptical.

Actually... How do u know they don't abducted jungle people either? They might... Not like they can share their story with the rest of the world

Some people who live in the jungle actually have access to things like phones, computers, etc.

People always say what would an advanced race want with us? Has anyone considered that some may only be a couple of hundred years ahead of us and the technology they use is not their own. Even if they are thousands or millions of years ahead, they would still be interested in this place. After all, we still dig up dinosaur bones.

It's extremely unlikely they'd only be a couple hundred years ahead of us (see my "We Are Babies" thread to see why). As for digging up dinosaur bones: That's a valid point.

What resources would aliens who can travel to any of the other nearly 50 Billion Earthlike planets in our galaxy want which they couldn't get without resistance there. A good portion of those 50 Billion (at the very least 25%) would probably be uninhabited.

And by resistance you really are talking a more extreme version of spears vs stealth bombers.

There would be no great interstellar war like in sci-fi. If they can get here they already won.

Actually it costs a lot more to raise and educate a human to do the tasks an alien would want than it costs to build and program a sophisticated series of robots who could then build their own successors. And then there's that whole thing about humans being pretty fragile in terms of space travel or even work in general. We break down with age. We don't really have the best when it comes to replaceable parts, we die easily in the presence of radiation, alien viruses, even suicide in situations where we are unhappy. That whole human free will thing gets in the way of good slave work, which is why slavery for the most part failed on Earth. People want to be free and if they can not be free they will not do the best work and will seek to undermine the system. We aren't very strong either. An ant can lift more in proportion to its body weight than humans can.

Aliens who can travel the stars have access to vast amounts of resources we can barely imagine. They do not need human slaves to access them. We are planning on mining the asteroids and moon, not with humans with picks, axes and shovels but with semi-autonomous robots.

Drones.

And aliens a million to a billion years more advanced probably have intelligent drones much better, stronger, faster than anything on our horizon at the moment.

Again, expect more from advanced civilizations than we expect from ourselves.

Thinking about aliens needing slaves is like us thinking about needing cave paint to do graphic design.

Why would you declare war on a race that you KNOW is more advanced? I didn't get that.

The resource is indeed us but you have to think about the implications a war would cause. It's alleged that they are after our DNA and genetics. Complications would include high levels of radioactivity and waste byproducts that would no doubt damage or alter our DNA and genetical makeup. Not to mention the uncharted complications of the aliens using advanced tech not knowing the effects it would have on the human biological structure. Why risk all that when there are more resourceful less stressful methods? By the way they can die as well so they save unnecessary casualties on their side too.

There is only one thing on Earth which I can imagine interstellar capable aliens a million years in advance of us would possibly want: Individual human experiences/memories. Other things we value like precious metals, minerals, energy, etc would be irrelevant to an advanced interstellar travelling species as such material resources exist in abundance in space. There are whole planets which have a thick layer of diamond for example. There are asteroids which have a large portion of gold, platinum, etc and if you can travel light years to get here you have access to all the energy you need. Dead dinosaurs being burned will be as quant to them as oil lamps are to us.

It could be that such an old species is bored and they would like to collect the memories of sentient species across the galaxy so they can look through their eyes or live their lives over again, etc.

We aren't very strong either. An ant can lift more in proportion to its body weight than humans can.

Sentient life, even if it is plentiful in the galaxy, could be as different from each other as snowflakes are different from one another.

Our memories may be the most precious resource of all.

I think its the diversity of this planet that interests aliens, snow and ice poles, deserts, forests, gigantic oceans, rivers, mountains, more religions than you can shake a stick at, many shapes and sizes of humans, hair colour, eye colour, skin colour, music, dance, food, drink, videos, books, humour, those alien societies probably lost their diversity thousands or millions of years ago. Just remembered the hundreds of ways we have of dying, we must be really fascinating to those 'people'.
