What will eventually happen is that there will become a "liberal Facebook" and a "conservative Facebook" or their equivalents. People become very much
ingrained into what they believe, so much so that they'll surround themselves with news that is patently false as long as it supports their world
view.
Behavior like this only reinforces a "head in the sand" mentality and keeps true progress from happening. Sadly, however, with today's technology we
can pretty much cherry-pick what we WANT to hear, and live in our isolated bubbles of self-affirming media.
I've had to unsubscribe from a few people's feeds because they seem to click the "share" button on just about anything that they find. Here on ATS we
have a pretty good BS meter, or at least have open dialogue about the validity of sources. You simply can't reason with some people, and even if you
were to show them how twisted and agenda-driven their "sources" of "news" are, they wouldn't listen.
To me, this is a huge problem in society today. True change can be painful, and if we only tell ourselves what we want to hear, we'll never change and
grow for the better.
