Noticing a disparity between when a post is made and how long ago the last post was apparently made

I pretty much just hit RECENT and have been noticing this more and more. A post I saw 10 minutes ago will suddenly say last post 1 minute ago on the recent forum.

I've also been noticing that this happens with posts that I think are at least a day old. I haven't seen the thread for a long time, remember who the last poster was, nothing changes but all of a sudden it says the post that was made hours/days ago is back at the top of RECENT and it says the last post was a few minutes ago.

The only thing I can come up with is that there is possibly a glitch and a thread or poster getting a star or flag somehow resets this.

It seems rather random, otherwise I would try to take some screengrabs.

I don't feel like I'm explaining this well... Just want to know if I'm the only one noticing this. For awhile there I thought perhaps it was some code to get threads that didn't receive much attention back in the conversation, but it seems completely arbitrary. This is probably some glaringly obvious thing that I've been missing, but I would love an explanation. Not complaining, just confused.

The problem is obvious.

The polar shift has started erratically.

All affected by The Schumann resonances.

I don’t have an answer, but your thought about someone possibly awarding a S & F without posting to the thread seems to make sense. Depending on how the software is written and what criteria constitutes an update to the thread, you may have nailed it.

Sounds good to me...

I'm thinking that makes the most sense. Code is a little lazy and just counts stars or flags as a recent post, resetting the last post made to bump a thread.

Dunno about that 1 but I seem to be a thread killer. Everything I post a comment on seems to end with my post. I only get on here once a week with time to opine so maybe I just have a knack for finding dying threads lol.

Seems to be the way most of the threads I start go. I'm not very good at it.

I doubt it, it's usually a case of extremely compelling logic that nobody wants to tangle with that kills a thread.

Nonsense. Just yesterday I picked one of your threads for our Twitter feed, with this graphic:

(I always try to quote the thread-starter when I do that)

Your topic performed quite well on Twitter.

I've been meaning to make an account. No idea how the whole thing works, but I suppose I can probably figure it out. It isn't necessary for me to have my real name connected in any way is it?

Not with Twitter. You can make up any name you want.

Twitter has been an excellent outreach tool. We're getting an average of 1,200 new visitors every day from our efforts there -- and it's consistently growing. It's also how I'm able to scoop mainstream news on a few stories I post.
