There are two types of arcus clouds, roll and shelf.

I actually saw one of these cloud formations about a year and a half ago. I had never seen one before that, they are neat. I looked it up to find that it really isn't rare. But I have to question, if they are not rare and I was always keeping an eye on the clouds because I worked outside and needed to pay attention to the weather for three quarters of my working years, how come I never saw them before.

The first thing I would do was look up at the sky when I would go outside, I still do, day or night. I've seen clouds that looked like Volkswagen bugs. I have seen many strange looking clouds and formations over the years, but these are new here.

That is actually a very good question. I am like you, always looking at the sky, day in and day out. I one year I saw 2 falling asteroids/comets (Not really sure which one they were), but I never saw an Arcus cloud before.
