I already know I'm a left-leaning centrist.

The test tells me I'm centrist-libertarian. I really think I do lean left though.

That test is a fail.

'There should be no national ID card'. That is what an SS card is.

'Repeal laws prohibiting adult possession and use of drugs'.

Should have been followed up with repealing all gun control laws, and possession.

To be 'fair and balanced'.

People need to realize left/ right don't mean what they think it means.

Apparently I'm a libertarian, though a couple of the questions weren't specific enough for my liking. Guess I'm a picky libertarian.

Though I identify as a Modern Whig

Heh...

I fall directly between Liberal and Libertarian, literally on the line between them according to this graph. However, it has to be said that the questions did not really go deeply enough, and I would argue that no mere questionnaire is capable of allowing a person to properly communicate their political standpoint, such is the complexity of the human experience, and indeed of modern culture.

For all that this is the case however, it is interesting to see where ones answers can place one on such a diagram! Also, the questions were designed for the US of course, which is idiotic, because the meaning of political terminology should not be dependent on geography, but for no good reason, is.

I got libertarian:

Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

Not surprising at all. I most readily identify with the label Libertarian Zenarchist.

I'm a left leaning libertarian.
When I read the description of libertarian, it sounded very Canadian, which I am, so I guess that fits.

Dija even read that it was "The World's Smallest Political Quiz"?? C'mon, you're smarter than that I've read your postings for years.

So, where'd you score?

Me, smack in the middle of the libertarian/liberal quadrant.

It is a disingenuous test.

Already gave examples, and here's one more:

End "corporate welfare." No government handouts to business.

For those that said YES to this don't think about social programs that IS corporate welfare.

Like SS,medicare, medicaid, food stamps, and education, healthcare that's all corporate welfare.

I don't see the 'iiberal's ever wanting to cut those.

The test is too basic to actually gauge anything.

ETA: I put "maybe" for most of them. The questions were too broad.

I took the test and it said I was a "Prick"?????

Anyone want to vote for Seeker1963 in 2016? I support the Constitution, honesty and hate "whiners"!

Anyone in?

Actually, "Libertarian" for those who want to say I'm hiding something.....

In all seriousness though? The questions were not detailed enough to be even close to accurately predicting what anyone could fall into as far as categorizing people into their new "herd".

I would prefer for everyone to think of themselves as free human beings and apply how they appreciate their freedom to those they disagree with!

But hey! War is always and option for those who can't learn to get along right?

Liberal edging a little toward Libertarian.

I always thought I was a filthy bleeding-heart liberal, socialist-leaning, atheist progressive.
I'm not a commie, though. I know the difference.

Precisely what is horseshoe theory? I must confess, I have not heard this term before, and would love to hear what you mean by its use.

It's a theory that political ideologies aren't linear (running far left to far right in a straight line, with the two "extremes" representing the furthest differences in ideology), but rather shaped like a horseshoe in which the far left and far right actually have begun to curve back toward each other. Horseshoe theory essentially predicts that classical liberalism is the furthest one can get away from classical conservatism across all the various political issues. As you radicalize on one or more issues, you usually see a softening of position on other issues, moving you closer to that which you supposedly hate.

It is very much related to political cognitive dissonance. Example being: "I am extremely liberal and believe in the absolute right of free speech... Hey, you can't attack my beliefs because you are trying to censor me. Your right to free speech should be stemmed." compared to "I am extremely conservative and believe badmouthing the USA is traitorous and should be restricted... Hey, I really hate this Barack Obama jackass! How dare the libs call me a traitor for bad mouthing this president I hate?" Both extremes have become so blinded that they can't see their own hypocrisy, yet they are saying very similar things with completely different motivations.
