Update: The hostage taker has handed himself in & nobody was injured!!!

Several people have been taken hostage by an unknown gunman at a post office in Colombes, a northwest suburb of Paris, French media reported.

The gunman is armed with a Kalashnikov rifle, a gun and numerous grenades, French RTL radio reports. He may be holding from two to five people hostage, say police sources.

The hostages were seized at about 12:00 GMT when a man rushed into the post office with a weapon.

Negotiations with the assailant have started. Reports emerge that an unknown number of hostages has been released, but it remains unclear how many people are still inside.

Another Muslim?

Different circumstances?

False Flag?

Bit too early to tell...imo

If it is a Muslim they're keeping quiet about it.

Not good in any case, hopefully this ends well, and as quickly as possible!

The hostage-taker “is disappointed in love”, local prefecture told Liberation newspaper, adding that the hostage taker is a customer “who lost his head” and speaks of “heartbreak.”

Seems to be a broken heart... hopefully it will end peacefully.

From the article.

The hostage-taker “is disappointed in love”, local prefecture told Liberation newspaper, adding that the hostage taker is a customer “who lost his head” and speaks of “heartbreak.”

The gunman is known to police as a petty crime suspect.

I guess bad timing.

"I cannot confirm or deny whether it is linked to terrorism,"

...eh? Last I checked, anyone with more than one computer in their home was suspect of being 'linked to terrorism'

He must be a Non-Muslim with a crushed heart terrorizing hostages with his AK47, but not a terrorist.

Hmm.. possibly trying to keep quiet that the new cartoon stirred up more # and attempting to work out a plausible cover story to deflect and place blame elsewhere rather than where it belongs ..

That news report in the link already says he handed himself in. It's in the first paragraph.

I'm sure they'll be asking lots of questions as to where he got that weaponry though.

Glad nobody got hurt.

I can see terrorists getting hold of hand grenades and full auto AK-47's, but some petty thief schmuck who got dumped? Methinks there is something more to the story.
