Ummm...Here's my non-writer status submission...I hope you all enjoy...

Mortality

Be calm White Dragon, on your ancient throne
This crown that binds you fast, this weight of years
Have joined their hands together, as it were
And mocking, lead you to your sepulcher

Rest now White Dragon, in your slumber know
That Reality and dream together feud
That sleep is no sure haven against the dark
And snoring, not the dreamers grandest mark

Dream on White Dragon, in your fitful sleep
As nightmares gather...vultures, one and all
Brave their fecal showers and endure
The knowledge, that the end is not the cure

A wonderful little poem! I enjoyed it.

If one were to ask me to incorporate the phrase "fecal showers" into poetry, I surely could not have done it better!

Ummm...Thank you Night Star...this was one of those poems that seemed to write itself...sometimes there are multiple re-writes...but this one seemed to be complete the first go round...

Ummm...I appreciate the sentiment...Thank you...

Sometimes a line just seems to fit naturally...I often ponder about dreams and the dream state and had been considering them when this poem just popped in...out of the aether...(or subconscious)...

Wow! Glad you entered this contest. That had a lovely otherworld quality to it, nice and hypnotic.

Ummm...Thank you Beansidhe...I suppose I owe any otherworldly perspective to...Burroughs, and Howard...to Poe and Lovecraft...to Stevenson and Blake...and so many others...
I wonder if it were words of theirs that somehow took root within my psyche...decanting a semblance of style that nourished whatever existed...innate...

I only know that I am a product of all that was before...and whatever I bring forth to lay before the human conscience...could certainly never entirely be mine alone...

Ummm...Thank you Zatara...I'm glad that I could be the vessel through which good emotion might decide to express...
Even though I frequently stare into the abyss...I am ever a child of the light...and childlike...I would seek to remain there...

If I can engender anything with such meager lay of line...it would be that others may come out from the shadows...and join me there...as lights...within the light...

As a lover of poetry, I always appreciate the efforts of others to communicate in poetic form. You did a great job and I too have experienced the effects of fecal rain when standing in military formation and having a flock of seagulls bomb us!

Ummm...Thank you GrayEagle...it's also never a good idea to feed the gulls while picnicking...cause that just might not be mayo on the burger...as my brother once found out at a family reunion...It ruined his appetite for the rest of the day...and was ever the subject of conversation at subsequent reunions...

I hear Ya that at times it is hard to get the time needed to write our Tales.
These Stories are definitely inspiring!! I also agree with You there! I have one HERE That You May enjoy. I recently wrote it. Not My Main entry, but another inspired from a discussion I had about Wizards and such. hope You like It. The Conjuring. later, Syx.
