Not sure which forum to post something like this . . .

In light of the horrible terror attacks in Paris the other day,
and finding out that the murderers were aligned with Islam,
and supposedly avenging the disrespect of Muhamad through
cartoons, and the massive Unity March going on now, what
could I do, to make a counter-statement against this type
of extremism . . .

DUH !

Make cartoons depicting Muhamad !

Maybe it's not a great idea, you tell me. I just think if enough
of us do it, to demonstrate the beauty of F R E E D O M,
we could begin to show these terrorists that they cannot win.

And that murdering cartoonists & publishers will only make
them more dispicable in the world's eyes.

You know what, I think I will. Any ideas on how to depict him?

And could anyone besides the site administrators/owners trace
my identity?

I guess so.

Perhaps if I do a cartoon, I could somehow anonymously have it
given out, you know- like people putting out flyers.

This subject is already being debated on the news, so why not.

If you want to insult the terrorist then make cartoons of the terrorist not Muhammad. It makes no sense to insult the whole religion when you only want to insult a few psychopaths.

Here's mine:

Oops, it is not M, it is Christ! I am making a point here. I would not dishonour another's beliefs. It is part of Muslim belief to not show images of their prophet. I know this offends them and I do not wish to offend.

I am a Christian. I am quite happy with the humour associated with Christ like "Life of Brian", etc. I have no problem with sending up my own faith. Humour breaks down barriers and stops us from taking ourselves too seriously.

Now WE MUST GET THE INFIDEL TREY AND WHIP HIM WITH FLOWERS.

Agreed. But it could be getting more difficult, with sporadic
eruptions of random violence by lone rats...

What about anti semitic cartoons? If only we had freedom to do that. It is however banned by law.

I don't know if that's a good idea, here's what happened last time when Family Guy did it.

I suggested something similar in another thread. Just be careful considering these religious whack jobs are becoming more sophisticated as the days go by.

Your heart is in the right place because i imagine it would indeed display some solidarity against these extremist pigs!

If you poke a wasps nest don't be suprised when you get stung.

Clearly the attacks were barbaric and inexcusable but using racism/hate crimes and pretending it's free speech makes a mockery of why free speech has been fought and died for over the years - especially given the ongoing attacks on innocent Muslims across Europe in the wake of the attacks.

Save it for things that actually matter instead of getting even more people killed just so you can wind others up. I.e the dozens of journalists in jail or killed for criticising various religions or governments - that's real free speech and vital for a functions society.

You mean disrespecting Sunni Muslims. Shia Muslims have no such proclivity's regarding Muhammad's image being depicted.

I asked this question in another thread but maybe I can get more answers here.

Isn't that what they were doing? Making fun of the extremists?

I don't read French so I admit I am ignorant as to what they really meant.

Were they depicting a broad stroke mocking of Islam? Or were they targeted at the radical ideology of the extremists?

Idolatry is there apparent reason. Which is hypocritical at best when one considers a significant proportion of Muslims have no problem with Mohammed being depicted, or any other prophet for that matter.

This was already done and it exploded and people posted their pictures and it ended up getting closed.
People got carried away and made it more then it was and it just became an all around muslim bashing thread.
