Speaking from experience - you can get anyone who is furry and four-legged to teleport, but there's a trick to it.

You have to summon them with the rustle of a paper bag and / or utter the magic word 'Treat'.

I can attest to this. My doxy's feet scramble underneath her when she tries to start running to see what it is. Like a cartoon.
