Religion needs to die.

Religion is an out-dated institution. The Divine Intelligence that created this Universe cannot be confined within a religion. It is more than a box of walls and steeples and architecture and doctrines. It sucks the spiritual energy out of one and replaces it with zealotry for a charismatic persona and his/her teaching and interpretation of scriptures.

So-called holy writings are great reading. They are like a travel guide showing one the possibilities of truly living when you open up the book of your own life, your personal journey. To remain indoctrinated within a set of rules and regulations limits your spiritual journey. We are each and every one an expression of the Divine, and, imo, we do not need religion in order to have a relationship with the Divine Power that governs his universe. Religion is a bondage.

Of course, this is my opinion. But, I have seen, as we all have, horrible things done in the name of religion.....the killing, enslaving, intolerance and persecution because of one doctrinal interpretation trying to overpower differing doctrines. But, it is even more insidious than that.

I, personally, have witnessed the tremendous pain of someone abandoned and cast out of his family and social network because he chose to no longer embrace a religious doctrine that advocated things that he believed went against his spiritual grain. He witnessed things within the religion of his childhood that didn't seem right to him ethically, morally, or spiritually. When he left, he came close to suicide because of the suffocating feeling of abandonment and hostility he had to endure from family and friends. Some wouldn't even look at him much less speak to him. He survived, though, because of his own strength and personal relationship he was able to develop with the Divine energy that flows throughout this universe.

Personally, if I woke up tomorrow and all organized religion was dead and gone, I would be a happy camper.

Rant over.

Religion can't die, until all the dead are resurrected.

and I guess like Stalin Pol Pot or Mao you want to be in charge of destroying all faith systems, hell you should just kill all believers
Its just simply you instigating your evil over others.
You are no better than those you accuse.
You want to blame something, many with out religion treat people the same way that you have described, even on this site those with a faith are constantly attacked by those with out a faith.
Yes religion has issues but its people, its individuals.
Is religion at the heart of your rant or greed and pride.

Why is that? What I hear you say is doctrinal.

Religion will die. Already people are becoming sick of it and its control over one's mind and heart. I don't think spirituality will die. I think it will grow and "each one will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree". But organized religion that sucks people's energy, time, money, mind, and above all true spirituality is doomed.

So are you insinuating that all belief systems are inadequate substitutes for the Divine Intelligence?

Maybe people who misinterpret scripture, use religion to further their hatred, play on people's fears of eternal damnation/separation from God, to control and profit are the problem and not the religion?

Can't find the right comparison but it's like taking something away from everyone because some "misuse" it.

No Religion doesn't mean no more God.
Please don't assume all believers in god are religious.
Religion is man made not from god.

I think one day people who don't buy into the religous BS will have had enough and leave the lot of you on earth while we reach for the stars...let you all kill each other off and we will come back with new pals and a better way of thinking and living

Also education will see it off OP educate people and mock those religions to make sure people see them for what they are.

Not all of us find our way to ourselves through ourselves

Some need to look at themselves from a different perspective, if they choose religion to be judged by, that's very much their choice, and should not be condemned for it.

Sometimes in life we need a belief stronger than we believe we can be, I'm fine with that.

Killing in the name of religion, before you all go there is a mental disorder, not a calling, and I won't argue that point.

Ban religion ?

Why kick away the very thing that gives some people hope ?

Just my 2 cents

I hardly think that this thread qualifies as a denial of ignorance, especially when you target and attack another individual's way of life. Now, I dont consider myself to be religious (I am spiritual), but I do believe that there is much cultural and historical insite to be gained by taking the time to study and understand any given religion. Some of the best human beings I know are very religious people.

It has already been tried on a mass level with over a third of the world's population, the old Soviet Union and Republic of China.

Marx called religion "The opium of the people" and the Communist Manifesto instructed atheism.

Lenin said "Atheism is a natural and inseparable part of Marxism, of the theory and practice of scientific socialism.".

As we know this was not sustainable and the experiment failed miserably. In China right now Christianity is booming and in Russia also. The Russian Orthodox Church has been totally reinstated.

So, in one respect you and Marx have something in common. You agree with an aspect of The Communist Manifesto. That Manifesto was given a chance. We know what became of it.

Point made.

I don't want to be in charge of anything but my own spiritual relationship with the Divine Intelligence. I don't want to kill anything or anybody. Religion will die all on its own.

And while you are foaming at the mouth over my rant, just what is a believer. I am a believer in the Divine Intelligence that governs the universe, but not in man-made religious organizations that suck the spiritual energy out of that universe.

The Jews were ordained and instructed by God to be religious, Christ came and ended the need for religion.
I am aware that religion is unnecessary
My issue is with the hypocrisy of the OP, he/she wants to impose their solution to the problem, by creating the same problem, just they become the oppressor.

If you're against religion then what is the Divine Intelligence? You believe in this but say earthly belief systems are bunk. So what is believing in the Divine Intelligence?

Religion is an out-dated institution.

I think the institution is just representing something that is hardwired into the human being , religion or spiritual belief seems to me to be a part of us and has been since we crawled out of the soup.

Religion dying requires that all people, of every faith, die. That is no more legitimate of an attitude to take, than the one held by the sort of people who shoot unarmed journalists. The level to which some people are prepared to generalise (a mark of a singular lack of imagination), and then far worse, to stand by the resulting fallacy, is always astounding, but your opening post will see my jaw scraping on the floor for some time to come. I would be impressed if I was not so damned sick of hearing one kind of mind boggling idiocy, swapped for another.

The truth is that human beings, no matter what they believe, ought to be judged on their own merits, and some people actually follow faiths without making it everyone elses problem, in fact, the large majority do. That is, the large majority of ALL faiths do.

The fact that the radical elements are the ones making the news, is only evidence of exactly that. It says nothing of good honest people, Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs to name a few, who just wake up in the morning, go to work to feed their families, and come home again. I will tell you this much. People of every walk and faith in life, want food in their bellies and those of their families, want heat for their homes and dwelling places, and want the rights of their children to grow up and have families of their own, not to be impinged by a collapsing global economy.

We will always have therefore, far more in common, than we have to divide us amongst ourselves. The sooner the majority of people wake up to basic truths like this, the sooner we can do away with outlandish suggestions like "Kill the Believers" or "Kill the Infidels!", or for that matter "Kill faith itself!".

I can understand your ire as a knee jerk reaction to events, but as a long term strategic goal, you will find it lacking in feasibility, effectiveness, and for that matter moral supportability.
