So, I'm not new to vaping...I just haven't been successful with it.

So, I am 100% ready to quit tobacco and I realize that I wasn't before. I like vaping, I like the flavors and believe that I will be successful using it as a tool to aid me in quitting tobacco.

Anyhow, I bought a new eLeaf iStick and I love it. I also purchased a new 12mg liquid called A'Pachhi by Halcyon Vapors as well as a new Kanger tank to top it all off.

Bottom line, the 12mg liquid isn't cutting it at all. I went back today to the lovely B&M vape store and purchased the same liquid in 18mg after researching tobacco cigarettes and my personal tobacco habits.

Anyone else find success after failure with vaping/eCigs?? Did a bump up in milligrams help you through that initial transition? I'm all for the idea of going w/lowest dose that's effective in any product, btw.

TIA!!

Cheap batteries and tanks are worthless.

My suggestion and what worked for me and most of the other vapers I know is to use an RDA (rebuildable drip atomizer), mechanical mod, and Sony 18650 VTC5 batteries.

Building your own atomizers takes practice and a bit of homework but is very rewarding. There are endless videos on youtube of RDA builds.

You will get very thick vapor which closely resembles the smoke from a cig, something tanks and ego batteries cannot achieve period.

ETA: legitimate mechanical mods and RDA's are extremely expensive... look for clones on Ebay! Full set-up shouldn't be more than $50-60.

Hi there.

I don't know anything about this either so would be interested in anyone with experience of moving over to vaping from tobacco.

I really need to give up. I have tried Cold Turkey so many times and I cannot get past 3 days before I crack. I have been told by numerous people that vaping can be a successful way of giving up tobacco.

One of my biggest concerns is whether it is actually safer than tobacco. It is such a new thing that there has not been any time to gage the long term effects.

I hope you can make the leap. I really need to give up tobacco so badly. Everything else in my life is really healthy. I eat a very healthy diet and don't drink. Tobacco is the only blight, but I am so hopelessly addicted.

Im completely off the 'baccy using vaping, ive found 16-18mg good for starter. One thing that helped alot was buying a rebuild atomizer and a mod, im using a panzer mod with a 18650 battery, and kraken atomizer( also use a aga t2), ive tried various ego based devices and e lites, but neither produce much vapour needed to replace a cig. Getting the hang of building atomizers is tricky and iritating at first, but once you get the knack of doing it you wont look back. I also use a hammer mod and a vamo vv, but the panzer is the dogs dangleys!!

Congratulations. If 18 mg is still not enough for you it's ok to go to 24 or 36, just be careful how much ml your vaping, you don't want to get nicotine sick. You may also want to start off with tobacco or menthol juices instead of the fruity ones, halo has one of the best juices for this, you don't want to be vaping poor men's juice at the beginning. If throat hit is important to you, nicotine mg, juice, ohm, and vv/vw all play an important part. You may be very irritable the first couple days, don't give up, let your coils cool as not too burn it out. Good luck!

Congratulations. I was also sick of smoking and wanted to quit. After 10 years of smoking a pack a day of kool filter kings, I was able to quit smoking the day I started vaping. I believe it is definitely healthier, I feel healthier, but you have to be careful on the juices you buy, buy good juice, American made, organic or natural flavorings, diacetyl free. Ecigaretteforum is a good place for info, you might want to check it out. You can do it, you can quit smoking!

For me I quit and went back a few times.. Mostly due to running out of money, and choosing between beer or cigs I went with beer.

MY techniques was to never make a deal about quitting, and always having cigs, and smoking if I wanted. After I quit a bunch of times for a couple weeks or a couple months my psychology changed, and cigs became a treat rather than a crutch. So then the next time I quit it was pretty easy. I keep a pack with one cig gone. Not sure why, I did that but it was for my psychology.

I've had many friends quit from using vapes. When they first started they all went back, but that's fine. They did get it to work after a few months to a year. and if you use vapes inbetween, you can last longer without a cig.

THe thing is I havn't seen anyone quit with just using like blu cigs whatever they are, or any of the cheap ones..

You want a powerful high quality one.. Something when you hit it, you feel it. A lot of the addiction is having a substance in your lungs.. Like me with beer. I never was addicted to hard liquor. Never enough volume to enjoy..

Also with vaping even if for a little bit I've seen people's coughing go down and they feel better. I havn't smoked in a while, and don't even think about it, but id smoke if the urge hits me, but I also don't want more than one a week, or maybe one a year.. I have an entirely different relationship now..

OH and my mom who smokes about a pack a day is down to a half a pack a day, including some 5 cig days.. She uses one of those ones with the atomizer and different pieces.. I don't really know much about it to be honest. She uses 24mg nicotine.

My brother has a set up like you mention so I'm familiar with this type of gear, however for my needs the eLeaf is more than enough and is nice than the twits types, etc.

Not looking to make his a habit or hobby, just plan to it as an aid to stop using tobacco products and to, eventually, not use nicotine period.

Once I'm off nicotine I plan to stop vaping as well.

I too have a high nicotine tolerance and when I started vaping I failed numerous times due to wrong strength e-juice and never finding parts that actually last. I have bought units as cheap as 15.00 at the quickie mart to 200.00 unit at high end smoke shops. You know what I found out, price doesn't matter, the nicer units always seemed to crap out before the cheaper units lol. Too this day I have still not found the perfect setup but I still get by. I' am not into tweaking the e-cigs so building coils isn't an option for me. I started 12-18mg not strong enough so I use 36 for a few months was awesome worked great but I was probably ingesting more nicotine than before with the cigs lol. It's a trade-off even though I was getting more nicotine it was still way healthier because no more smoke, no 2nd hand smoke and no 3000 and 1 chemicals affecting my brain chemistry anymore. Within two weeks I could already breath easier and my senses were starting to heighten. I currently vape 24mg, but now I feel if I wanted to drop it all it would be easy. There are times were I don't vape 1-2 days rare but it's true. With Cigs that just wouldn't ever be possible for me. I truly think it's harder to quit smoking cigs than it is to quit certain hard drugs. Long story short don't listen too much to anyone on any device but find what you like. Everyone is different and when vaping that is even more truer. The most important tip I can give is always buy quality juice, cheap juice equals, bad taste, waste of your money and cheap e-juice can ruin good vaping products. And lastly if first starting out I strongly recommend starting with tobacco or menthol instead of flavors at first, the first few weeks are important and when I started I use flavors first, big mistake and it's why I failed the first 2-3 times trying to switch to vaping and went back to the cigs. The flavored ones when you first start out just don't do it yet because the body is psychologically attached to the cigs still. But after 2-3 weeks of tobacco flavor I was liberated from cigs and can now use any flavor or combo no problem. Hope this helps and God Bless.

It wasn't until I bought myself a vw/vv mod such as the istick that I was able to give up the tobacco for good. I'm currently loving my istick mini nautilus combo and I've got quite a few nice devices so good choice

If you still struggle with a higher nic strength try upping the power on the istick to give yourself a bigger "hit"
On a 16/18 mg you should be getting plenty of nicotine unfortunately a lot of it is a mental thing too. Probably the hardest part

Keep at it, you'll get there

I've noticed a huge difference in the quality of the eGo twister type and the iStick.

I ordered a Mini Nautilus and another liquid online...They don't carry the mini at the B&M store in my area, but they do carry tons of other products. They may have been out of them as it is their busy season, idk.

ahh vape my best subject

lets start with theres alot more to quiting than just nic to really make u fell like ur smoking u need some POWER

rda's are sadly now being surpassed bye 100$ vw mods

example www.fasttech.com...

this is a 260w vv/vw box mod that is a .06 ohm coil or in other words no single battery can do it

50w mods are good for most tho and i realy gota recoment a rda to anyone its cheap effective u can spend under 40 to get a full setup running

and YES i have a solution for anyone who cant build a coil
www.vapordna.com...

will make a flawless coil for u in 5 seconds

only a good built rda type coil will really give u a good vape tho no igo ego premade carto tank atomizer anything will produce the hit a ex smoker likes and upping ur nicotine will only lead to headachs literaly

now for batterys well id love to be get vtc5 or vtc4 but good luck sonys new plant has not made it to fill the void from when there plat was shut down from fukushima

LG IMR 18650, 35amp, 2500mAh, Flat Top is atm the only one i would trust fake baterys are real everywhere and riskey

now almost just as important as hardware is juice

well start with what is it

the base is a mix of vg and pg pg adds throt hit vg makes the clouds his is all preferance the healthier one is claimed to be vg and ill tell u i wake up in the morning lungs fell fine on all vg high pg and my throt is sore and i hacking

than u have flavoring natral artifishal and whatnot

AVOID i mean absolutaly do NOT vape anything popcorn they are outthere and they cause canser

and ofcourse nic content this is based more on how big ur clouds are and how often u vape
if u vape small go higher vape big go lower

i build a .1 ohm coil ... do not do this unless u know what ur doing and i vape at 24mg also sont mix thows 2
but i take 2-3 hits tops medium sized hits and im good

brand of juice is everything whall china invented ecigs and they make the gear ... they invented it so thats fine
but there juice is a unknown
i mainly buy all natral all organic juice and it makes no impact on price i pay about 30 bucks for 60ml so 50c a ml

im shure most of u who buy at a shop are going damm i pay 1$ a ml shop online

ill try and watch this thread if you have any ?s
and why oh why cant we have a vape section in the forms :[

Thanks for sharing! It's very inspirational. I want to end this addiction to tobacco, like yesterday, so every successful story helps!

I really hate the smell and taste of cigs, so hopefully once I jump those mental hurdles it will be smooth sailing!!!

Exactly, that's always the biggest huddle at first especially and a little after is the "mental" side of it. And it is amazing not smelling like a old ash trash lol. Funny part now vaping and my smell coming back I can actually smell and taste more now it's silly. And I have faith you will do fine, and remember if you slip a little it's fine just get back up and try again and I know you will meet your goal. Happy vaping!!!

You already got this in the bag
the vape metal. And good luck in kicking cigs they really do suck butt I see that now but it wasn't long ago when I was a chain smoking fool hacking bad monster mess in the morning you could use as glue it seemed lol, Damn glad those days are gone!!!

I can definitely tell a difference in the 12mg and the 18mg liquids, for sure. Less cravings since I cleaned my tank and refilled with the 18mg liquid.

I think it's the habit I'm having a hard time with now....Maybe I'll take my vape outside in the garage and freeze my butt off for a bit.
