If you played Arma 3's Altis Life, this is right up your alley
I received an email announcing this

Identity is a modern-day open-world MMORPG for PC and Mac with complete freedom to do almost anything you can imagine at any time in first or third person views. Live as an honest civilian, a criminal, police officer, paramedic and many more. There are no levels or skill grinding, but talent and perk progression so that it’s the actions of you, not your character, which matter most.
An enormous online and persistent world controlled in almost every aspect by the players living within it.
Player-driven gameplay and economy with dozens of jobs and epic careers.
Action and fun around every corner with a player police force, gangs, cartels, businesses and more.
More casual games than we can list, from karaoke and cinemas to paintball matches and more.
Play on the official servers or host your own with your own rules and options.
No subscription fees and never pay-to-win.

This is looking VERY interesting

Isn't this the same idea as Second Life? Not sure if I would want to come home from work to then go to virtual work either. What happens if some criminal kills you? Does your avatar get wiped from the system?

I think they are trying to bite off more than they can chew. Especially on a 150,000 dollar budget. Can you imagine all the different systems and progression paths they will need to complete for the jobs. Then add on top all the mini games they said they want. Plus you will need RPG systems. FPS systems. Car driving systems.

I know I sound pessimistic, but biting off more than you can handle is a problem that a lot of MMORPGs have faced. Its destroyed a lot of promising games with AAA budgets. Still I hope they succeed and get way more money than there asking for. If they pull it off it could be huge. A massive multiplayer grand theft auto. Were you can be anything and not just a criminal.

But, as always it will end up in a cluster #, also this is very very very very early in the game, they probably bought the Unreal engine and are now dreaming.

So it will end up being early access or alpha with lack of options and people will get bored and game never finished, only for it to die out pretty much like DayZ stand alone.

But, lets see, still a long time untill anything will be playable, if they can get the backing goal at all.

Ive had this idea for a VERRY long time now....
Same concept but..... BIGGER....
Main idea is "What you can do in real life,
you can do in the game"...

Hope they pull it of.....

I actually came to the Video Game section to ask
about HUGE open world games... Now i think its pointles...
