The Netherlands, Norway, and Poland under the auspices of OCCAR and NSPA are preparing to enter negotiations with Airbus Military for four A330MRTT tanker aircraft. The European Defense Agency found that the MRTT is the only off the shelf aircraft that can meet their needs by 2020. The goal is to sign a contract by 2016 and IOC by 2019. The NPSA will purchase and base the aircraft at Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

This bit caught my attention, "the initiative, which is open to other nations during the acquisition and in-service phases, is expected to reduce the fragmentation of European aerial refueling capabilities, which currently consist of 40 tankers of nine different types."
So getting very singular now, regardless of the cost, and regardless of the, "Open to other nations" quip.
