yes there were two high sixes, but your links are to the same one at 2015-11-11 01:54:37 (UTC)

GUC are reporting
6.9Mw @ 01:54:36
and
6.8 6.9Mw @ 02:46:17

edit on 1100000031331315 by muzzy because: rearranged the lines

these are north of the main M6+ bunch of aftershocks of the 8.4, except one
6.3, 19/09/2015 5:06,-29.653,-72.276, 30, 101 km al NO de Tongoy
which occurred quite early on, so makes these also aftershocks, rather than a new series

edit on 1100000031331315 by muzzy because: add more opinion

edit: geez, GUC changed the magnitude of the 2nd one, up 0.1 point, while I was having dinner.

They could be fore-shocks .... although, I hope not.

Only time will tell. Could be another 8+ incoming.

map of the Sept Chile 8.4 and the 23 x M6+ aftershocks

@pheonix358 - hope not, for their sake
I didn't include Energy Released in the marker tags on that map, but for the record;
6,359,983 Tons of TNT have been released by M6+ events alone, on top of the 60,035,526.6 TTNT of the 8.4 itself.

Ah,am I somehow clicking your link wrong, or is Bing just sucky for EQ maps? Chile is most certainly not anywhere around the American midwest, though that's the map I get when I click.

If you wait a second or two, Chile comes up. At least it did for me.

Yea, I see what I did sorry about that.

Well TA is watching Chile. Hopefully this is just aftershocks.

Here's his thread if anyone is interested:

not sure, Bing must open to show the area where you live, mine initially opens over the Tasman Sea and shows the east coast of Australia and New Zealand. After a few seconds it switches to show the KMZ file location, in this case Chile.
Like diggindirt says, wait a few seconds.
Try refresh if it doesn't come up.

Bing Maps is a mystery
on my :japanearthquakes2: pages the map sometimes shows all the icons, sometimes not (the whole blog is based around using Bing Maps.)
eg
09.11.2015 both the M1+ and the M~1 maps are missing one icon/event/quake
08.11.2015 all the icons show
07.11.2015 all the icons show
etc

I'm wondering if there is a time delay for the Map system to read all the code involved in creating the icons?
Will check tomorrow to see if the missing events appear.

I haven't done one of these maps for ages, mainly due to the demise of Google Classic maps in Feb this year.
Just to re-confirm how in-exact earthquake monitoring really is.
I have download the data from 10 sources.
the spread of locations is
39.41km north to south
x 52.88km sw-ne
= 2,084 sq km

map link 1
hopefully the map opens in satellite view, I've forgotten how the address linking works on ikimap, I switched the base map from streets to satellite twice and saved the map, but it still opens in street, I hate it when things don't work as they are supposed to!
link 2 (if the first one doesn't work)
if that doesn't work try Bing Maps, it doesn't have the Network names on the icons, but it listed biggest to smallest, you can read the source on the left hand side list.

7.2 M, China Earthquake Networks Center
7.0 Ms; 6.6 mb, Geological Survey Russian Academy of Scieneces
7.0 ML,Japan Meteorological Agency
6.94 Me_hf; 6.9 Me_bb, Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology
6.9 Ms, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory
6.83 Mwp; 6.19 mb, Geoscience Australia
6.8 Mw, Global Centroid Moment Tensor Project
6.7 Mw, European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre
6.7 Mww, 6.5 Mo, National Earthquake Information Centre PDE
6.1 ML preliminary, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention

It will be interesting to see what JMA come up with in the reviewed catalog in 3 days.

I wasn't sure if me being logged in to ikimaps made a difference to what I see, but no it makes no difference. You will have click the map type you want yourself. Looks like Bing on ikimaps doesn't work either! I'm going to load the quake to Significant Quakes as a 7.0, it might change later

They've had some big ones around this area in the past.

I am wondering if this is a reaction to the Galapago's quakes. (sp)
