When you say fizzer, do you mean a mistake? A SNAFU? LOL!

I have never heard that term. Had to look it up.

You DO NOT want to know what that means as a slang term.

I think the Hyuganada region, off Kyushu M5.2 has run it's course, just short of 7 days now, seems to be tapering right off.
page

I'll do one more update on that tomorrow, and then leave that and keep an eye on SW Shizuoka Pref for the next little while

yes now that you brought it up, it has been a while.
Sorry for the delay on answering you, I had a bit of work to do in the formatting of the ANSS data to get where I wanted it to be.

I think we went over this one last year, of course it's not in Oregon at all, its in Nevada.
Bald Mountain, Nevada, or as the Nevada Seismological Laboratory marks them " X mi NNE of Vya" (anything between 14 and 29 mi). Vya is a few houses 9km SSW of Alkalai Lake, in Nevada, it appears to be the nearest civilization to the earthquakes epi-centres.
Its a tough place to give a location for, but the nearest physical landmark is Bald Mountain. It is marked as a +2191 m on National Geographic Maps. It's partly marked on Google Earth as "Yellow Peak".
Pretty desolote place, I walked around the area on Google Earth, no sign of man or beast, and the "lakes" are all dried up.

20km radius search of the area inside a circle with the earthquakes from the last 60 days (572 of them) on ANSS reveals nothing much prior to 2014;
18/06/1987 04:50:08,41.93,-119.689,5,M4.2
29/08/1997 15:48:09,41.847,-119.786,5,M3.9
03/07/2007 15:09:41,41.834,-119.821,5,M2.8
12/05/2012 02:52:24,41.8687,-119.6513,10.28,M1.02
07/06/2012 12:31:56,41.8833,-119.8448,0.02,M1.68
05/01/2013 17:16:46,41.9107,-119.5438,0,M2.56
21/03/2013 02:27:22,41.926,-119.6637,6.32,M1.8
12/04/2013 20:17:58,41.868,-119.6052,3.55,M1.71
Then it kicked off for real on 12/07/2014 with some 730 smaller quakes up until 04/11/2014, when the periods between became minutes apart rather than hours or days apart, 71 quakes through to 05/11/2014 07:23:04, when a 4.7Mw hit and then it was all on, through to the end of March 2015 when it started to taper off. There were some 3,950 earthquakes from 04/11/2015 to 31/03/2015.
From 01/04/2015 the periods between quakes reverted to hours and days apart again, through to 16/07/2015 when in a short period a series of 3 mid to low M3's triggered a 4.5Mw and she was off again, 709 earthquakes through to yesterday.

The JMA Earthquake Information page seems to be an inaccurate location.
Could be because they only use two decimal points?
The 4.2 is a 4.3 on the JMA Unified Hypocenter Catalog, and it wasn't near the south coast, but 10.4km deep under the Kounji Buddhist Temple at the north of town in the same area as the previous M3's.

I wasn't that I didn't believe you, I kind of figured it was EMSC, but you didn't give the magnitude type like they do, so wasn't sure.

just a single M2.0 in the last 24 hrs
The 4.3 must have been the mainshock in this series
2 days to go until the lid goes on it
I'm just running these for a 7 day time period, unless something fresh occurs

Latest area showing increased activity is Bungo Channel
58 micro quakes there last 24hrs JST.
Its the sea passage between Shikoku Is and Kyushu Is.
close to the Median Tectonic Line
