I have it on good authority that the powers that be preferred to be called "the clique" by their friends and confidants, and want everyone else to call them Obama - because they like to laugh at him catching all the heat.

I noticed, when you started this thread, you asked...Is it 'tptb' or "ptb"...and now, it is missing, along with the "reason for edit:"

There's another First(For myself anyway)...Right here on ATS.

Also, did you get the memo, the votes are rigged, and well, either way...The darkness always bleeds da' light!

What difference does it make...what we call them...the fact is they are in power and meet secretly in all of their secret societies meetings and decide...what is next.
Its strictly esthetics. I don't care for the way that "the PTB" looks in print but "tptb" looks kinda cute. But I enjoy saying " the P that B", yo.

Depends on the usage-inference.

Example 1. "The Powers That Be" control our world. (TPTB)
Example 2. "Powers That Be" seem to control the mainstream. (PTB)

It depends on the need for using "The" in reference, statements etc.

Use example number two in a sentence to help clarify what you mean. I guess you'll have to start with "Powers That Be" or you'll have to add a "the".

Here, it is used 4 times without using "the". The "THE" is not always necessary...even though perhaps it would be. Below, it is used online by description (link provided...but italics provided by me))
