How to "bug" an alien bacterium

a vibration sensor at nano scale can detect the motions of individual bacterium and cells. the article talks about this in context of bio-sensors for space probes.

sorry the OP is short but what more needs be said? I can do a few jokes like: "does the NSA know about this?" or "Not even safe from spying while hiding out on another planet" or something like that.

This reminds me of Ripley's detector from Alien. "Microchanges in air density my a$$"

Thing about this particular technique, is that it may register lots of false positives from the vibrations and motions of the rover or lander.

If we can somehow reduce the size of these to the nano-scale we could blanket a planet, moon, whatever with "smart dust" which would monitor it in this way and relay back the results to the orbiter.
