No your English in fine...
I live in the US & I have a Brogue accent...it was extremely thick
for 4 yrs & the last 2 yrs I still have it but not as thick.
I even had Scots ask me if I was from Glasgow...when I got home
I asked me mate that lived here on the farm where he was from &
he was from Glasgow.
I have always spoken the accent from where I am living since wee child.
I have no control it just automatically happens.
So picture growing up in the south, accent is so thick no one can understand me
not even locals...
Move to CA to pursue my music career & within weeks accent gone. They don't
have an accent in Los Angeles just many. I spent most of adult life there.
I moved where I am now 6 years ago. My first summer was horrible because
I had a steeple chase jockey from Glasgow, a horse exerciser from Ireland &
another exerciser from England with a thick cockney accent.
Well bloody hell I was speaking ALL 3 at the same time so NO one understood
anything I said. Then after a year the only one remaining was the Scot. He has
now been gone for 3 yrs & I still have the accent...it will probably stay....even
when family is around I have never re-picked that accent up.
Oh I have toured Europe several times playing in the band...never been to
Scotland or Ireland. Luck for me my last name is a prominent Scottish one
& it's northern right on Loch Ness...LOL!
