Ah okay... that would be a good way to select a specific area if you want to keep some areas semi-transparent and others not.
Why hadn't I thought of that earlier ??

What I like about the threshold alpha is that it will select all of the semi-transparent areas and allows you to adjust how much transparency you want
(or none at all) with a simple slider (full transparency to no transparency and everything in between)... this will work great for images where the
fuzzy select tool just isn't cutting it (ie: images that have multiple colours together where you have to click multiple times to get the entire area
I also have Adobe Photoshop but prefer the GIMP program by a landslide... it's far more user friendly for rookies like myself... albeit you have to
download 6000 different brushes, script-fu's, pallettes, etc etc to get it up to snuff with all of the options in Photoshop, but I don't mind.
