If they find it, it will be because it had a limited amount of fuel and it disappeared while flying quite a linear route (from Indonesia to Singapore). This isn't like MH370, which had larger fuel reserves and diverted from the flight path by banking and heading in the opposite direction towards a very large and very deep ocean.

Interesting info, thanks

Why did they take pictures of that person instead of the other 40? There are 30 ships from multiple countries there, yet somehow, only the Indonesian Navy has found these bodies.

At least they found debris.

The fact that they found this but not MH370 makes MH370 even a bigger Mystery...

So What we've learnt is that black boxes and transponders do not work?

As the emergency slide is reported floating as well as the door does this mean people may have been alive when they escaped or do they get released automatically?

So Indonesia is covering for Malaysia now?

How do you get the black boxes don't work? They send out a short range ping, not a satellite signal. You have to be within no more than three miles or so to hear it.

As for the transponder, as with everything else on the plane, once the engines stop, so does power to it.

If people are seat belted in, how do so many bodies appear floating?
Is it possible these people escaped, but later drowned? (That would be the unthinkable)

That can't honestly answer. But AFP reporters were riding with the search crews. Perhaps they took it.
The live video played for families was from a news outlet it appeared.
And remember. At first it was six then 8. More bodies and debris is adding up as hours pass..
They're just finding them.

From time of death the body starts to decay / break down. That can result in gases being released but trapped inside the body. Those gases can cause a person to swell.

I thought seat cushions could be used as flotation devices. If they are then maybe they are helping the seats remain afloat. Its also possible air is trapped in the items, causing buoyancy.

Up to 40 bodies now.

The airline actually had a flight for he family members. They flew them to the search area for closure / see what was going on.

The Emergency slide is automatically deployed.

Are they riding on all ships? If so, shouldn't they be able to tell whether these bodies have been found, instead of relying on the words of the Indonesian Navy?

Seat belts break during impact, seats come apart, etc.

Thanks: so once that occurred people would have just fallen out the door?

With regards to the other poster on the black box / transponder - you would have thought a stronger signal would be mandatory. Imagine if they found 'nothing' again.

A question with no clear answer, for now... MH370 "clean" disappearance, cries for something more that an accident.. families and the world needs to know the truth ...

who or what was behind this ? In a plain crash there's always debris! The proof is here.. as it always was!

They haven't found the debris. The only way this makes sense is if the plane crashed with everything intact, someone opened the door, and now, the bodies are starting to float up.

from New Straits Times

The crew of a Hercules rescue aircraft also located bodies close to the first body, and the debris, found in Karimata Strait near Air Hitam Bay.

Hercules A-1319 co-pilot, First-Lt Erwin Tri Prabowo, said he spotted as many as eight bodies within 2-3 nautical miles radius or around 5km. One body floating face down was in a white top and black pants, while several others in a row appeared to be holding hands, Detik.com reported.

Zaph or anyone who knows the subject matter - how would holding hands survive impact?

And then it adds more weight and complexity. It's pretty bulletproof now.
