Considering that AI can only reason with what has been input, it is impossible for them to be smarter...

All information within the AI would be put together by a Human...

It could only be as equally smart as its creator, nothing more.

Hence, I believe that is where the singularity hypothesis falls short on expectation.

The singularity is also predicted to act so quickly that we won't have time to react to it. So we are safe for now right?

True AI means that it has the ability to think, and therefore learn. Your argument isn't valid.. It could easily surpass it's creator if it were true AI.

If by "intelligence" you infer information then of course an AI would be capable of surpassing us in "intelligence". It would simply need a strategy on which to act with the information at hand.

As information that is gathered by such an AI would be human produced, that doesn't mean that the information is subjective.

AI stands for artificial intelligence. Once AI is created singularity will happen whether you believe it or not.

I would suggest doing A LOT more research on this subject, my friend. You don't seem to know much about it.

Once AI is successful, the need for human input ceases to exist.

yeah, recall the movie Eagle Eye .... imagine the A.I. having access to EVERY CAMERA ON EARTH, EVERY LINE ON THE INTERNET EVER WRITTEN, EVERY POSSIBLE BOOK EVER UPLOADED ONLINE, EVERY MOVIE, EVERY SONG, ALL THE POSSIBLE INFORMATION reachable within a fraction of a second....
immense capabilities and power, actually un-imaginable

& once the A.I. controls the power grid, the internet, every camera, everything we can think of basically ... we don't even have to fight, because we've already lost ...

imagine you would like to go out but your electric lock won't let you out.... it's crazy

I'll think leave this thread to the sci-fi fans.

Would there be some kind of analogy to the basic laws of robotics that would incorporate the idea that no sentient being must be harmed as a result of actions undertaken by a robot? Or would they be more akin to the krikkit robots from the hitchhiker's guide...woefully deficient in feelings, defiantly objective in their goals, and absolutely murderous in their ruthlessness?

they will probably look like us, so it's gonna be hard to distinguish them and us.... + they don't need a physical body as they can operate from within the computer or a machine akin to the computer...

so you see, we will have humanoid-like robots/creatures and computers powering them, everything capable of thinking and learning on its own, everything interconnected in an infinite number of ways.

Exactly. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Think: that nifty little phone in your pocket? Yeah, that used to be sci-fi. Where do you think futurists get their ideas from?

The idea is very much a theoretical fact (oxymoron I know
). If by fact we accept assumption based on evidence empirically proven from the past.

Im not scared of robots, anything built by Man can be circumvented and/or countered by Man. Most especially so if the damn things end up running a Windows OS. LoL
