Nah it isn't about the shoes or any silly materialistic things. It's about lives.

actually the silly materialistic things is what caused this situation in the first place

My oh my this is a heated thread. With good cause I suppose.

I like to look at both sides of the argument, and both have valid points. In no way do I support death, murder, or any sort of violence to any degree for that matter. (Coming from a pacafist here, mind you).

On the other hand, I do support ones right to defend themselves, and although I personally would not have taken it upon myself to carry a gun and defend myself with it, I can not judge another for his own right to do just that. The man was face to face with an act that could have possibly ended his life, and even in minor stages of fear, we can all do strange things that you wouldn't think yourself to do otherwise. Did he panic? Possibly. Did he think about the guilt of taking another mans life? Who is to say. Did he make an act to protect his own life? Most definitley. In that moment, I can only assume he was overcome with a heavy amount of fear, not for the shoes, but for his life.

I wish the poor misguided man rest in peace. It is a shame, but in the end he took his own risks and paid the ultimate price.

the same programming makes the consumer want the shoes and that same programming makes someone want to steal them...where does this need come from (that is rhetorical question)$200 dollar shoes are not worth dying for or killing for

I see where you are coming from... this site after all is all about conspiracy. Don the tinfoil hats.

It still doesn't matter. A threat is a threat.

Now about this thing you said about "them" programming people to behave certain ways especially for profit (maybe through ads or whatever) that certainly deserve a new thread of it's own (I'm sure there's quite a few here)

i am not so sure that the programming aspect is a theory ...more like fact
.....i agree a threat is a threat and is not ok.....and i am sure it is a thread in itself(the programming).....i just think people need to look at the bigger picture here ...there is a reason this kind of behavior is an epidemic in our society but to brush it off as a bad apple and he deserved to die because of his choices is a little too simplistic

I cant believe the attitude of most of the posts so far, it was a teenager trying to steal a pair of shoes!!!!
A teenager whos previous record consisted of stealing food, not violent crimes yet you would think hes some sort of mass murdering, child rapist cannibal, Im confident with the right guidance he could have been shown the error of his ways or rehabilitated.

You all agree its not worth dying over a pair of shoes yet you all seem to not only think its OK but revel in the fact you should kill for some, how you cannot see the complete lack of logic in this is beyond me.

I wonder if while this guy was drawing his gun, if the kid had of shot HIM dead if you would all be saying the same stuff?
"GO DARWIN"
"What idiot is prepared to die for a $200 pair of shoes"
"Why didnt he just hand them over then his wife and kids would still have a husband and father"

Somehow I dont think so

To an ignorant outsider like myself as well as many others on this site it almost seems like you guys just cant wait to get a chance to pop what you all consider a righteous cap in someones ass.

Sad story and how any of you can get any joy or a feeling of satisfaction out of this is beyond me.
You live in a sick twisted culture

I think you need a reality check on the situation at hand. This wasnt just a pair of shoes this kid was stealing, to the young male's of this generation collections of these shoes is a massive thing, big brand name company's release collector edition sets, signature series sets.
These collector shoes do not even get worn, they are for show.
This kid was stealing an assett, a coveted item not a pair of pissy gym joggers, watch the clip below and understand what these type of collectable shoes are.

not at all, but what needs to be looked at and understood here is that the kid, was not stealing these shoes because he needed footwear, he was stealing them as they are a prestige social icon in his circle, just as the officer said, he wanted it and was willing to pull a gun for it.
It is sad that materialistic views ended this kids life but these views get forced on the youth through pop culture.

lets try this gain since I need mental help...

i stand by my statement...when material goods are worth more than life that is the fail for society ....this is where it seems the great divide is happening.....the programming runs deep when there is a need for these material things....and that works on both sides of the have and have nots....those that will kill to keep their materials and those that would kill to steal the materials...that my friend is called a fail

You might want to think this through again..also about mental help when for some in the know ..they understand that that the inner members of the Soviet Party...got their material goods in stores separate from the ordinary Russian Peon.
And they killed millions in Democide to get things this material while preaching and teaching against materialism and western decadence.
The ordinary Peon in Russia could not shop in these stores nor afford these goods.

When people are able to have discretion over what they have earned ...their production goes up rapidly. This is historically demonstrable.

When people must needs give up more of what they earn ...to graft ..theft or any other type of coercion..their production peaks and begins to fall. It matters not if government is doing this or another type of crook.

Some of us have little use for monuments...whether tennis shoes or not. But I do not tell another how to spend their own monies.

Monies are property...so too ones labor used to earn monies. There are ample case precedents of this in the law books.
When graft and thuggery become so wide spread...no matter what the cause...people will stop doing what they are doing or take a loss if they do not.

I don't need a mental specialist to teach me this one.

I do not appreciate someone foisting off a lack of consideration to my RISKS taken in earning my monies/properties through my labors...my labors are also my property. It is concealed hidden thuggery while attempting to look moral and ethical. It is none of these. It is politic..also often another word for thuggery. Not the product advertised...same as politic.

People who can still think for themselves are beginning to wake up and make this very connection to philosophy, politic, and thuggery sufficient to realize that the political system and it's philosophy is not the product advertised.

By he way...speaking of thuggery...In the Soviet Union in the 1930s..when the government had ruined the relationship between parents and their children by heavy state control...and the children ran wild in the big cities and were causing all kinds of civil unrest..including the type in the OP of this thread...the Soviets solved this problem by going into these neighborhoods and rounding up the trouble kids and shooting them. Mass execution of these gangs and undisciplined children.

You will find this informations in a book titled "Sex and Power in History" by Amaury de Reincourt describing conditions for women and families behind the iron curtain nations. A very hidden and covered up piece of history here in the west. I was stunned to read of this history.
