Don’t know that I had ever heard/read “behind every great fortune lies a great crime”…but, with regard to what I see, daily, it could well be
If a dynasty –(such as your example – “the Kennedy’s in America”
)– were proven to have attained their/its wealth by
other-than-honorable/lawful means, how would such a law be applied?
Would it affect all wealth from the moment/date of infraction…? (which might be classified under ‘compensatory’ damages
…all wealth including any acquired prior to said infraction (…as “punitive damages”
In any case, there are victims of the crimes…and, in cases that have grown into multi-generational ‘empires’…multiple generations & branches
of victims, as well.
Is there a statute of limitations that would exonerate families/empires for the crimes that put them in position to write such a law…thus ensuring
their perpetuating strangleholds on everyone else?
