Have You Seen This Giant Flying Pinwheel from Thailand?

"That stunned NASA UFO Rocket giant pinwheel"



The title is totally ambiguous. I don't know if NASA was officially stunned or not, or even if somehow there might have been stunned NASA personnel riding the pinwheel; I just don't know. But it's very damned cool.

They blow up the first one, which makes the video very nearly worth watching in itself.

But on the second one? They get lift-off:



Don't know much about the Thai Rocket Festival, I just learned about it yesterday. By the looks of the videos on YouTube, this may be the largest pinwheel they have succesfully launched. The ones in the other videos look much smaller.

That was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The first one exploding made me chuckle. The second one actually making a successful launch was exciting. I like how the guys that lit it ran. I would've wanted a longer stick after seeing the first blow up.

Yeah, I was not expecting the 2nd launch to look nearly as cool as it did. That thing went WAAAAAAAAAAAY up there.
Just as I was saying "Oh crap!" "I'd hate to be under that as it is coming down" it launched a parachute!

Excellent! It must have been terrific seeing it in person. All of that initial smoke clouding the start up really added to the overall effect.

A great spectacle for sure, and what a straight line it took.

Somebody needs to stick a GoPro on one of those babies...

That was awesome!!!! I loved the fact that it had a parachute when it was coming down. I'd definitely like to see that in action.

I HAVE to make one.

The sound it makes is worthy enough to be entrancing. I'd like to see those hooked up with LED's and shot up at night.

That is cool. They thought it out well even had a parachute deploy. Did it all on a shoe string budget I bet, i The principal could be worked in practical application for sending payloads to orbit if the spin action somehow lessens the fuel required to lift to the mass. Im sure Nasa may be envious what lift off can they do that looks cooler?
