I am in need of some sort of therapy.
I saw this for the first time, and was unaware of this TV special from 78 until christmas day yesterday. The day that Christmas died....
This film was aired only once, and its fabled existence has plagued Lucas himself for nearly 40 years, saying he wishes he could take a sledgehammer to every copy (you think he'd know now how we feel after the Phantom Menace)

*Luke Hamil is in female makeup and looks like he's has plastic surgery?

*Carrie Fisher singing, well drug use discussion is not permitted on ATS

*Harrison Ford looks like he wants to suicide on screen.

You can see the entire Star Wars Christmas Special on YouTube, complete with 1978 commercials, if you're feeling suicidal enough to endure 98 mins. If not, the 15 minute version shown here will probably suffice.

******WARNING****** Do not show this to children you love under the age of 12.

I remember seeing this way back when. I honestly thought it was a nightmare that I had had as a kid.

I believe you aren't even joking one single bit.

Do you remember any of the scenes?
Its like it was done by drunken teens doing a muppet show fan fiction?

Wow. I remember this and it made me think that how could Lucas come up with Star Wars and then inflict this crap on my young conscience? I almost burned my Kenner action figures in protest.

Did you have Chewies father Itchy, his wife Malla, and his son Lumpy in your collection?

It was weird how after making "a new hope" we got hit with this abomination..
Thank the force for "the Empire strikes back."

I am guessing George Lucas gave someone else the reigns for the christmas special.
An Inebriated halfwit who had accidently eaten a little too much peyote maybe?

Its the only logical explanation I can fathom.

Incredibly it was his idea and he pitched it to the tv studio....maybe it was a premonition of phantom menace?

Wow,George must have been having some kind of an episode at the time-it sure was traumatic for the viewers.

That thing with the Ewok in a hang glider was pretty bad too,but not a patch on the horror that was the christmas special.

Wth did I just watch? What?! I lost it when Bea
Arthur started getting sassy with the Bith band.
What? I'm so confused. I don't know what I just saw.
Why is Chewie's wife wearing an apron? I thought
wookies wondered the forest naked...And the subtle
undertone of father issues between Chewie and Lumpy
when he gives Han more attention. What?
I don't know how to process this.

Breathe slowly friend, you have experienced a temporal wobble in the force.
You need to watch "a new hope" and "empire" to re align yourself with your midichlorians.

You can come back from what you have seen, concentrate on the light side of the force.

Just be sure to be sitting down in a comfortable environment, otherwise you could well just lose your marbles if this is your first adult viewing.

Can you imagine if they played this for 24 hours like they do with a Christmas story?

I've had my hands on this for 15 years now or better.

The deal with Mark Hamill's makeup was that he had been in a pretty bad car accident.

Here's some reading you can do about that:

I don't think this ever made it to the UK and I only saw this a couple of years ago.

There is also an amusing critical version of this abomination.

One thing you will note is that Wookies never get subtitles in Star Wars. It's probably for the best in this case.

No, but I had the mail order Boba Fett and I wanted to shove it up Lucas' sarlacc.
